I use both but if I had to make a choice it would be blue. Smile

Red Decks with a Blue Dress Suit Jacket and Blue Decks with a Red Dress Suit Jacket.

It's a visual thing!

I suspect the original idea of this post was to find out "why" as well as "which".
I use blue Bikes because I use a lot of gaffed cards and it's easier to get blue DBs, BFs, etc. than red.

Blue backs. People seem to be more familiar with Blue Backs for some reason. Smile

Black because they're uniques followed closely by blue. Smile

I use whatever I can get inexpensively and in bulk. I honestly don’t care about color or back design. The few card gimmicks I use I can easily make in what ever back design and color I have. I even mark my own decks a la’ Ted Lesley. I tend to buy and use what ever the dollar store is carrying (and I can talk the manager into giving me a price bread on a gross). You can probably guess I don’t use many decks of Bikes!

Blue. Years ago (less so now), red backs were quite unusual.

I have heard that red are supposed to be harder to see if you have "leaky fingers" when you palm a card. I never use this sleight (too chicken) so I don't know if this is true or not, although it sounds plausible. Any input anyone?

I didn't know these forums were inhabited by so many CARD RACISTS!

I prefer red back... the brand, I tend to use local casino used decks since I can get them for next to nothing if not free by the case after they come off the tables and the locals are very familiar with them.

They also are sealed by the casino after they take them off the table and rebox the decks with a seal that can easily (if you're careful) be lifted and resealed thus.... well you can see where that thread goes.

My preference for red has several reasons but mainly I do mental effects rather than "traditional" card work and, I believe, the red backs help subliminally with some forces since there aren't too many blue suits. (Of course, there's also some verbal work that goes along with the force.)

Neo: What truth?
Boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Boy: Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.
