I got my torches today, and I must say I am quite pleased with them. I promised I would post pictures, so here they are.

(Sorry the image quality is a bit poor. I used a webcam.)

I got mine too!! Same day.
They must be sister torches.

I must say that I sniffed the red fabric and legend is true.

That red fabric is the
soiled long johns of some -dirty- carny (an unbathed slim price?).

I kid you not. There was a bio-hazard label on the torches and I was a little curious about that. But one whiff of the torch tip identifies it as a -potential- weapon of mass destruction.

These are nice flamers. the flame (inverted) is as long as the brass 'dowel' handle(?). and yet the flame tips do not touch my hand. We are talking a heathy 15' or so, the torcch heads are big, so the resultant flame is also big. It may appear to the audience that the flame is bigger/wider than your mouth. It is a good show without a lot of "sell". With sell, people's eyes bug out!!

I did have a problem with burning the first stinky long johns torch head coverings. Even though I have practice with 'cotton' torch heads, I have been using kevlar for so long , I forgot to put out the torches.
But that is why Slim is so thoughful to provide replacement long john fabric. I will replace that as soon as possible.

My only complaint is that the long johns should be washed brfore he ships the torches.

I do not mean to infer that carneys nor Slim
shower less than frequently.
Just that after a hard day on the lot and your underwear can het stinky.
All kidding aside, these are wonderful tools for the working showman. I know that many fireeaters make thier own props.
And yet, for less than a $100 you get a piece of history.

Infer away, you're a lot closer to reality that way. Most carneys don't shower less than frequently, they just don't shower. And don't even ATTEMPT to bring up dental hygeine. most fair companies (i.e. Reithoffers) have a facial hair dress code - nothing more than a simple moustache is allowed. Well, if you grow your stache long enough it covers the rotting teeth in your gaping maw... not too sweet, huh? Slim hasn't been a "real" carny in a while, but I'm sure his undergarments have more punch than mine!

Where exactly is this red "carny" fabric coming from?

As Mrs Slim, I can attest that it's all true. Count your self lucky that you're only exposed to Slims unwashed undies.....(G)
