Hello,

I am looking for some help. I was wondering what are all the illusions performed in Doug Henning's The Magic Show?

Also does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of this video?

Thanks in advance.

Check amazon.com or any of the online magic stores for the Magic Show, it is pretty common and it has many of his illusions.

He also did sands of the desert, and "Things that go Bump in the Night".
I saw his show in Seattle many years ago.

If you can contact Ab Dickson he'd know, I think he owned most of the illusions after the show closed.
POOF!

Here are just a few from my memory of seeing The Magic Show on Broadway in 1974: Zig-Zag, Thin Model Sawing In Half, Lion's Bride, Spooks in a Bottle, Metamorphosis, Mis-Made Lady, Crystal Box, Sword Suspension and a screen production of a girl (similar in concept to Temple Screen.)

Those are just the ones I remember. I also remember reading that he did an Asrah Illusion but I definitely did not see it in the show I saw on Broadway. (I assume he changed illusions from time to time as the show ran for 4 1/2 years, although he didn't stay with it the entire time.)

When I saw the Magic Show in NY, I remember a floating ball as the closing illusion.

Thanks,
Richard

Why not just tape it? Doug was once on Muppet show either.

Laci,

Every once and a while it pops on without notice I never know when it is going to be on! that's the only problem! If I did I would have tapped It the first time I saw it!

Any other help?

They list both new and used copies of The Magic Show on Amazon.com. Just search for Doug Henning.

I have the DVD, which was not from Broadway but a Canadian production. In it, he does those mentioned (minus "Sands of the Desert") plus the Magic Elevator, vanishing elephant, T&R Newspaper (granted, not an illusion), and a version of the mousetrap/"Rube Goldberg" illusion.

MagicalOdyssey,

This is the one offered on Amazon.com. There was never a video of the original Broadway show. Why don't you want to go to Amazon.com and buy it? (The prices start at $17.)

Dear micheal,

I would rather buy thru an individual then a site like ebay or amazon.

I'm pretty sure Henning did not do a motorcycle vanish in the Broadway show. It's been a long time since I saw it, but I don't recall that illusion, nor do I think it would have fit with Doug's character. David Ogden Stiers played the evil magician, when I saw it, and he was absolutely great.

Bill,

I think you're right. The motorcycle vanish was part of one of his television specials.
