One of my friends were telling me about a magician that does the regular sawing in half where the assistant gets into a long box and gets cut in half, but he uses a clear see-through box. Is this effect being sold anywhere?

Brendan;
This is called Clearly Impossible. It was created (if memory serves correctly) by Johnathan Pendragon. It is currently available, and built by John Gaughn. (again, I maybe off on the builder. hopefully one of the other members can clear this up. ) There are MANY unauthorized versions of this available. And as with all unauthorized copies, they stick out like a sore thumb. hope this helps in some way. Magically yours, matt |

Bill Smith is actually the authorised builder for Clearly Impossible. My friend has one and it is great. I second Matt on this, go for the authorised version, please.
Chris.

Where can this be found? Just search "Clearly Impossible" and hope you come across Bill Smith's version? Thanks

Bill Smiths site hasn't been updated in quiet some time. The best thing to do would be to give him a call.

You forgot to mention that you should start saving your quarters now .. by the time you're in your late 70's, you might have enough to pay the $11,000 price tag.

Chezaday- That's why I purchase plans and power tools instead of illusions. If I put down $11,000 on an illusion, I've got an illusion. If I put down $11,000 on table saws, cordless drills, welding equipment, etc. I've got the tools to build many illusions. Plus, if one of them doesn't work out, I can either (a) sell the illusion at a profit, or (b) charge to renovate my neighbor's house.

Yes buy your tools but you have no right to build another persons ideas.....

Quote: That's why I said I purchase the plans as well. By buying the plans from the designer, you gain the right to manufacture and build the illusion for your personal use. Personally, I prefer designing my own illusions, though, not based on another designer's plans.On 2006-04-05 17:43, jamieallan wrote:

Well I guess you will not be buying "Clear cutting" or "Clearly Impossible"plans from Bill Smith.

Do you know if this plans are for sale anywhere (legit of course)?

The plans for that illusion are not for sale. Even with the plans .. if you don't have the right experience .. you won't be able to build something that complicated. It takes years of woodworking and metal skills to make an illusion .. it's not a simple rocking horse.
