I did not, but I would like to read a review by Nathan, also if he has some prejudice Smile

I bought Tri Fold and have looked over the routines. I haven't performed them yet but I suspect they will all get a strong response.

There are three effects all involving a folded card - hence the name.

All of them seem suitable to table hopping gigs since a reset is not necessary in the first and third - "Necktie" and "Birthday Coin" - and it's easy to prepare for multiple performances in the second effect,"Voodoo Card".

"Necktie" is a clever approach to a general type of trick that many of you might do now but with different props. This is an easy, almost sleight-free way to do it and I'll certainly give it a try.

"Voodoo Card" could be done either in a light manner or with a bizarre touch depending on your performing persona.

I really like "Birthday Coin". It's a little bit different, two-part effect, and I think it'll be pretty hard for a lay person to backtrack to figure out how the second part is accomplished. The first part should confuse them but the second part is the real climax, in my opinion.

I would have liked Nathan to explain in a little more detail how he uses a force in this one. He tells us what force he uses, which will be familiar to pretty much everybody, but it would have been nice to see his personal method with it.

I recieved my copy of TriFold last week, but due to a death in the family, have not had the oppurtunity to come and post my thoughts on this treatise.

I have had some time to go over the material and digest it, and here are my thoughts.

Necktie - This is a very commercial effect, and brain dead simple to boot. I don't wear a tie when I perform, so it is highly doubtful that you will be seeing me perform this effect, but for those that do follow the rules, and wear a suit, this is a fabulous effect; it is a magical kick in the junk. Very simple. Very strong.

VooDoo Card - I originally learned this effect from Nathan's DVD, Visual VooDoo. I loved it then, I love it now. Regardless of how you play it, it has an inherent 'creep' appeal that I really love. This is a well thought out routine, with some very strong moments.

Birthday Coin - This one surprised me. It is mentalism; not something I thought Nathan did a lot of work in. It really shows how well read Nathan is, and how much he thinks about his effects. This one alone could be worth the paltry $10 asking price; it is really that strong.

Overall, this PDF is a steal. 3 strong effects that you will use. The routines show Nathan's creativity, and attention to detail. For $10 you really can't go wrong. Highly reccommended.

I have downloaded "Tri Fold," and it seems an excellent little pamphlet for the price.

Necktie is a very cute idea, and the notion of using it as a kicker to "Homing Card" makes sense. A nice card to impossible location without having to carry a gaffed wallet, an envelope, etc.

VooDoo Card also seems strong, though I like the Guy Hollingsworth effect in AoA, and I'm not sure this tops it.

Birthday Coin offers a nice bit of close-up mentalism, using a well-known but underused (well, at least by me) principle.

Overall, I like it.

Can someone describe the "Birthday Coin" effect? It sounds interesting, but I would prefer to have additional details before I make the purchase.

Thanks,

Elliott

Birthday Coin: Spectator chooses a single coin from among several; you have predicted which coin, along with the spectator's date of birth.

I did come up with something a while back, but thought my idea was a bit cumbersome and easier to do using other methods. I think I typed it up and can send it to you on Sunday if you’d like.

I've got tri-fold and love the "worker" aspect of all the routines. These ones can actually go right into your act, and those of us who perform for real people know how important that is.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the kind words!

I've used the routines hundreds if not thousands of times so you are right. : )
