Again, just some thoughts on how you can improve your current illusions...

I just sent in my fog chamber for powder coating and new glass. I've been using it for a while. I think I built it back about 3 or 4 years ago. The glass now is pretty beat up. Here are the before pictures... I'm a little worried for what it's going to look like, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We're using it in a Matrix number in the show, so you'll understand the coloring when you see the pics. I should have the parts back first thing next week. I'll post the new pics when it's ready! Again, here's the before pics:

I am having a problem with my fog being too thick during my appearance w/ my chamber and if you would be willing to share. What do you use to clear or suck out the fog? Would a vacuum work? or maybe a fan? My creative Illusions piece is somewhat of their prototype for it and although it was very well crafted, there are somethings that need rentivating (Spelling) such as the fog that won't leave.

It doesn't do you much good if you can't see the person when they appear, or when they trip coming out down the stairs because they can't see them! (Cough, Ive never done that) Smile

Please check out the F/X section and you will see threads about this subject.

There are foggers that use quick disipating fluid. The fog will be completely gone in 3 seconds with no fan, vaccum or other poor methods of trying to 'get rid' of the fog. We use two of them in our show. They are the Viper NT from Look. They are also the first fogger to be able to shoot straight up or down or any direction, with no ducting. Let me know if you need more info

Thanks Kevin, I actually saw that product in the theater F/X inventory but I still wasn't sure that it was what I was looking for. But you haven't steered me wrong yet through these technical aspects Smile .

All the Best,

Jared

P.S. Dave I really like the modern look to your chamber.

Hey Jared,

I had to create a vacuum within the chamber. You need more air coming out, than the air coming in. I have a small opening at the top that flips open when I'm ready to appear. That that point, the fans all kick in (5 fans) and suck the fog out the bottom/back.

Sounds like Kevin has an easier solution! lol...

Dave

PS - My metal should be back by Tuesday. I'll try to get it assembled asap! All of our gear ships out on Thursday, so I have to do it fast!

I'll never forget the first time I stepped out of a smoke chamber - I'd filled it with smoke but hadn't turned on the extraction fans and went flat on my face across the workshop floor! I'm not elegant at the best of times but I've never lived that one down...

Chris.
