I am considering buying this table, on the website bid-on-magic.com, to see if this type of illusion is right for me. Any thoughts? I would love to own the Losander version, but is it wise to try a lower quality version first? What are your thoughts?

Ugh....what an ugly table!!!!!!
You will never be able to judge any reaction you may get with a Losander table by using this. Its NOTHING like a Losander table. Don't buy it because "A" its a rip off and "B" its one butt ugly rip off. Best, Tim |

In any case, what guarantee do you have that the prop would even work in a manner which would allow you to actually test whether or not the effect suits you? My thoughts would be that if you are wanting to test the Losander effect, then buy a Losander table, learn how to do it well and then make your assessment. At least if you decide it doesn't suit you you have a "Losander" brand table to sell to somebody else. Chris.

So sad ... a reasonable price for someone who has no taste.... in quality or ascetics...so sad anyone who knows about the real Losander would even consider this one... Look at all the threads on tables....Save up and get the real thing....

I must say, that I agree with Timothy Drake and many others here in the Café, this is one of the uglyest tables in the whole world.
But then again, you may become very famous and known as a magician who floats the uglyest table in the whole wild world |

This table isn't only ugly, with almost no base and a miniscule table top it actually works towards tipping the illusion.
People start thinking "there's nothing to that table"....and from there it's not far to "hey, it's made out of b____ w___" Ugly, and it tips the illusion.......$60.00 is to high an asking price. You'll need to put in in a $400.00 road case though, 'cause you know it's going to fall apart! |

Please keep in mind, I wanted to buy it just to try the effect and see if this is right for me. I don't plan on using it in any shows. I would rather spend $60 to try it out rather than spend $1,000 for the real deal. Plus, yes it is a crap table, but it also has the right price for a table in its condition.

Even though everybody has pointed out that the table is junk, perhaps more important is that it's a rip off of a fellow magi's creation.
Let the fact that you'd be buying a rip off, and therefore supporting those who rip stuff off be more of a guide for you than the fact that the table is poorly made. People rationalize all the time how it may be OK to buy a rip off item becaue they're not professionals or not performing for people. Bottom line is you're supporting rip of artists. |

Greetings,,,
Yes, the table looks like a broken down car that was hit by a train then followed by a car and another train… But, friends in the magic world,,, keep in mind,,,,, there are different methods to float a table.. Owens sells one.. So would you call him a rip off.....? I saw his table an it works on a method that I saw in a kids magic book when I was about 12 years old.... Awesome… and so settle…. IT seems like every time there is a floating table you guys call it a rip off..... Keep in mind the are other builders and creators..... A strong point to make on this particular piece, this table does not even look like a Losanders table... and has strings? ? ? ? And I believe if someone who is using magic as a hobby or just starting out... or doing this for fun... This table would be a nice project..... Okay let the comments roll,, DRAMA queens.... HEHEHEHHE
