Has anybody done a search on google lately for magician? At the moment on Google UK in the top 10 at the moment there are only 2 magicians http://www.lanceburton.com and http://www.noelqualter.com. The rest of the references are to magic related things or not at all related to magic.
I hope google, the best search engine, will improve. I don't really know how it works but if you were looking for a magician you would be disappointed with the results. Baggins |

You'd need to use a more intelligent/more specific search term than just 'magician'. It'd be like looking for a review on the latest Mercedes S-Class and doing nothing more than typing 'car' into the Google search box and expecting it to find exactly what you want. There are various techniques you can use to ensure you receive the most favourable search results.

Yes, but how many people know how to be more specific when searching? I myself do, but many do not. Shane |

It is sad but true. I just googled "magician Philadelphia" and the first Philadelphia magician that came up was #72. The rest of the junk that came up had nothing to do with magic, not even one entertainment directory came up. It appears that google will no longer be of any help to us when it comes to those who web surf for their entertainers. HAVE FUN Al Angello

I guess you are right guys, that it all depends on the context that you are searching and it is important that you use the right search criteria. But if you are searching for Philidelphia magician and it isn't bringing up magicians for hire then that blows. Maybe internet is not a good idea for magicians?

If you google Al Angello you will see all the web sites where my name appears. Libraries, schools, fraternal organizations, churches, and corporate bulletin boards that I have performed for in the past, and is (whether you like it or not) an unauthorized biography, or resume. Things are always changing hopefully for the better as long as you are not on the FBI's 10 most wanted list. HAVE FUN Al Angello

I think any lack of magicians appearing on a Google search reflects more on magicians' lack of knowledge on how to design a web site that appeals to Google's search engine. If you run a business, it pays to take the time to learn how to market your business on the web (or to pay someone else to do it for you).

As I said before, the first real magician's real web site that actually lives and works in the Philadelphia area is #72 Eric Paul. Try to follow up on those dead ends leads you came up with, my friend.

^ What you actually said was: "... the first Philadelphia magician that came up was #72. The rest of the junk that came up had nothing to do with magic, not even one entertainment directory came up."
Anyway, are Arlen Zachary ("Arlen has been performing magic for over 25 years in and around the Philadelphia area"), Abby the Children's Magician (titled "One of the most experienced children's magicians in Philadelphia"), Magic by Poly ("Poly has been performing his unique brand of comedy and magic in the Philadelphia area for the past 20 years"), to name but three, all no longer performing? Perhaps not.

You'd be surprised how at many people do know how to be more specific.
Anyone who uses Google will type in multiple versions of what they want. Why not "Google Adwords" it- it's faster than waiting to get on top of the list and realistically if you're competing against Lance Burton I think you're going to fail- he has far too many hits. |

If you go to Google, type in "magician/ Santa Rosa" see if DrSolar.com doesn't show up on the first page. As well, many other entries; child's entertainer/ folsom as well as nearby towns.
It seems to be working for me. I had a great web consultant. Not a "My Space" sort of thing. Yahoo is my complaint. Seems you have to pay for any mention. Dr. Solar

If you were planning a party, would you search for "magician" or "table hopper/party stroller?"
