Anyone use the finger chopper in a real adult type of gig?
I've been using it for fun at home to test it's merit in a paid venue. It's pretty darn funny.... I know Harry Anderson did. His routine was great.

I've used the Hades Finger Chopper in several paid gigs, after the big show I do some walk around stuff and the finger chopper is one of 'em...it gets great reactions, especially the build up with a cigarette and chopping it in half.
Also thers lots of lines to be used with it that are great, stupid or just plan silly. And Frank, I checked out your site today and noticed that your phoenix cups are now $999.00...thats quite a price hike dude! what happened to the $75 price tag? johnny

They are sold out. I just put that price in there as I was too lazy to delete the item. I don't think anyone will pay $999 but in case someone does, I guess I'll have to scrounge up a set.

The old Adams' Finger Choppers/Cigarette Cutters were really pretty scary to anyone who did not know about it, especially if they can feel the blade when it's in "cut" mode. I can see a lot of fun possibilities, and I've been thinking about making my own version.

Making your own version, eh? Gonna make it outta wood right, hope so...wood seems to be the way to go with a chopper, seems more natural.
A lot of us were hopinbg Mr. Chance Wolf would pop one outta the magical womb...man his products are great! wish I had some! I use almost the same routine with two different props, one is a french guillotine and the other of course the Hades Finger Chopper. The routine is called... The most dangerous Card Trick In the World The Card Trick Of Doom...(a card trick of course)...I say this often during the act and after the second time the audience knows to say the last word Doom with me, it's fun because I encourage them to all do an echo effect of the word doom...sounds like this...DOOM, DOom, doom. It's great really, makes everyone laugh 'cuz they're so out of synch with each other when they all try to do it. johnny

Ultimate FINGER CHOPPER
$125 Out of Stock I was going to get one a month or so ago. I emailed those guys about when they'd be in stock but no reply. I got the Hades version. Doesn't look nearly as nice but I NEED one to go with my disgusting rubber finger I bought at the magic store the other day.

I've done the Mafia Manicure Routine in conjunction with a watch steal in the past and it always gets quite a reaction. Lots of built in misdirection for lifting the watch. They're so busy looking at their finger they never see their wrist.

I got my Hades Finger Chopper yesterday. Wow. Nice prop.
What's missing is a "base" to make it look more like a guilloutine and a nice padded bag to put it all in. I'm excited to add this to my repitoire.

Have the spectator sign a waiver, and ask which finger is used least.

Van Cleve had a great routine with a ceremony, etc., kind of like a French execution. He used a stock metal adams one.

I use the finger chopper in every walk around gig it gets the best reaction out of anything I do. So many one liners to use also make it a great routine. I've got the hades also, it fits nicely in my back pocket for walk around and can be past out for examination before and after.

I do like that the hades can be stuffed into your back pocket for walk-around. Sturdy and slim.
I still want a stand for the chopper for a parlor type thiingy.

I bought one that is twice the size of the hades and built similar to it from Daytona Magic that I use for parlor shows. The stand for it is a good idea, I'll have to make one also.

I've used the Hades Finger Chopper for many years and it always gets a great reaction. Just one thing, though -- be careful if you have an elderly volunteer. This happened to me once, the man was a lively fellow over 80 years of age and was determined to be the volunteer. The prop worked perfectly, but this man must have had brittle skin -- the movement of the blade at that certain moment (you know what I mean) was enough to cut his finger and draw blood. Not serious, and he didn't make a fuss, but everyone knew it had happened. Steer clear of elderly volunteers with frail skin.

I'd never use an elderly person due to the fact they could suffer a heart attack when you slam the blade down...never even thought of the frail skin.
