Hi Everyone,
Near the end of the school year, our high school puts on a Variety Show. I am not sure of the time limit, but I am really looking for some ideas on illusions (visually stunning) that'll stand out from all the other ones. My experience in perfomring to teenagers is not as great as for smaller children, so my illusions are mostly child-based. Now remember this is not a child audience, so balloon swallowing is an option. Any ideas to helping me out would be great! (P.S. I have been in magic long enough to understand magic isn't based off the trick but by the performance itself. I would rather this be a brainstorming thread than a lecture!) Thanks, Evan Morgan |

MagicalOdyssey,
I checked out Solo F/X! Sounds like the illusions aren't that cheap to build. Crawling through a CD? Sounds impossible to me... Thanks for the quick response, Evan |

I had the crawling through CD illusion built from the Maybe book and found it to be disappointing. While it is a more than possible illusion, it didn't pack the punch that I had been hoping for.
But, getting back to your inquiry...unfortunately illusions that stand out from "all the other ones" aren't that inexpensive to come by. In that scenario, I think you might be best off by selecting standard illusions (I.E. Sub Trunk, Shadow Box, etc), re-theme them, and possibly look to add extra "kickers" whenever possible. ...just an idea. |

Check out the table of contents of Jim Gerrish's "PVC Pipe & Dollar Store Illusions for REALLY, REALLY Cheap Illusionist!" on my web-site. You may get some ideas and most of the Illusions cost very little to make. If your goal is to stand out from all the other variety acts, and not stand out from all the other professional illusionists with lots of bucks to spend on illusions, this might make a good solution for you.
