I recently sold Expert Coin Magic. It didn't do much for me. I'm not really in to boxes and tuning forks, but there are a few nice things in there. I prefer Kaufman Coin Magic.

I saw it when he and Pat Cook and Darwin Ortiz appeared on Wonderama years ago and liked it from the start. I have a couple of good heavy duty tuning forks and the gimmicks and learned the trick when it was published in ECM however it's still something I associate as very much HIS trick, hence I don't perform it. Curtis Kam suggested something that was so astounding that I may someday perform something like Roth's trick but it will have a different slant. There is a classic tale about the sound of coins which offers a different take on the trick which fits perfectly with Curtis's idea. On to borrowed quarters: You must know you are addressing someone who went down that path away from special coins to using quarters over twenty years ago. That coins across folks seem to like is most often performed using quarters in impromptu situations. Till five years ago I used to carry a cig-thru-quarter. When going out I sill carry a half quarter (cut in half) and a quarter from which all the nickle has been removed (thanks Richard Hatch) for a "nickle extraction" trick. Also used to carry a twenty one cent coin and small pair of tweezers with my pocket change. If it helps you any to know, I had a c/s gaff made using a quarter sized coin and have kept that with me as well. On the practical side, Al's Matrix and Roth's chink-a-chink and Stonehenge assemblies work with quarters. Certainly Roth's Hanging Coins and Winged Silver work with quarters too. Plenty of good material to explore. I hope you tried the "ruler" trick in ECM before sending that book away. Best to you, Jonathan

Thanks for your info. I do like the gaffed quarters. Do you use all the heads side? Considering all the state quarters? Thanks again for your advise.

We're getting close to 50/50 for getting a state quarter, so were I to have a new c/s made it would likely use the head of a new quarter. The coins I have now are tails side.
