Hello,

I am thinking about buying this book, and I wanted to know your thoughts. I searched, and had found nothing. Your thoughts on the effects, and whatever else you feel should be mentioned would be most appreciated. Thanks,

P

GREAT book! Here's a thread full of endorsements...

It is filled with terrific material (all cards, in case you were wondering) and is a lot of fun to read, as well.

It has some wonderful self working effects. That is what appealed to me the most about it. I'd buy it.

Any book with Mr. Bannon as it's author is worth investigating. DMF is his latest endeavor and I think it is his best to date. It is a joy to read and the effects are impromptu as well as effective. I like the Bullet Train (all 3 effects), Origami Poker, The Power of Poker, and many more! It is illustrated with photographs that are clear and concise, what more can you want? The bottom line is get it...you won't regret it. Cardzilla cometh, I can hardly wait!

I recently bought this book based on what others here have said and I have some of his previous work. All of his material is top notch. I don't think anyone has ever said anything bad about his work here on the Café. But the most remarkable thing about his work, is that magic is not even his fulltime profession (he is a lawyer by day). Imagine the stuff he could put out if this was his fulltime job. Their are some effects that are reprinted from his past lecture notes but I believe he has modified them. He has his own take on the 10 Card Poker Deal, Triumph and Shuffleboard.

Bannon's introduction and the questions he posed regarding magic is quite a good read as well..

I can only think of a handful of books in the last 50 years that are as good as Dear Mr. Fantasy in terms of quality of effect for the effort.

As mentioned above, there is already a topic for this named John Bannon - Dear Mr. Fantasy.

I also agree that this is a fantastic book.

Absolutely one of the best books in my opinion. I was recommended this book by another magician and I can say that I have not regretted it. Best value for the money in my opinion. I like the way he teaches. Particularly the last few chapters. The last chapters read like a story. Very refreshing to learn this way.

Thank you guys, I have ordered it. I typed in Dear Mister Fantasy, which is why it didn't get any responses! I have looked through the reviews, and other opinions offered. Thank you, further comments are welcome as well!

Sorry, I really don't get it. 4 ace assemblies don't do anything for me so I set it down. Guess I'll have to try again. What rocks in this book?

4 ace assemblies are only in the first chapter of the book.
The rest of the book deals with non-ace assembly tricks
