21 Card Trick and the one where someone selects a card and then places it in the middle of the deck and it reverses itself.

The first I can remember is a key card trick from Royal Road. I believe you flipped through the deck passing their card by and then betting them the next card you turn over will be their card. You then turn over their card from the prveiously dealt out pile.

Mine was the 21 Card Trick. Learned it from my classmate or maybe playmate.

As someone mentioned above, I started with the old "52 card pick up" effect. OK...just call me fingers!
This wonderful experience then led to the "21 card trick." I had finally become a magician! Ah...the beginning of a fantastic magical journey. |

21 Card trick here too Seems to be a common one in these parts
A Trick? Well yes there are quite a few "tricks" I can do, but alas there are women and children present. Find me later.

Yep, 21 card trick here. The first time someone did that to me, it got my interest back into card magic.

The key card effect where you look at the bootom card and use it to find a selection in the deck.

I'm pretty sure it was the "21 cards" trick; I may have gotten it out of Boy's Life magazine when I was in scouting.
The trick is pretty boring; you have to deal out 3 piles of seven cards, and then stack each pile in a certain way, and then repeat this whole mess THREE times...ugh! Then you count off to the eleventh card. The last time I did it I made use of the boredom aspect of it to make myself look ike a boring fool, and then used "the next card I turn over will be your card" as a sucker gag. It sort of eased the boredom part of it, as the onlookers later saw all the stupid dealing as part of the setting up of the victim, rather than as a math card trick... |

Sister taught me this at a young age. Have no clue of name if there is one. Mathmatical principle of some sort, not even sure how it works. Cards turned off the top of deck to table. Say first card is a 10, turn next card on to the ten and mentally count 11, then another 12, then another and stop on 13. Turn packet face down and start another. If the first card in a series is any card but a number burn it. Continue process as long as possible and hold any remaining cards in hand. Have specky select 3 piles. Retrieve other piles. Specky selects two piles and turns top card on each face up. Deal 10 cards to table, then deal total of the two shown cards to table. Count cards in hand, matches the top card on remaining pile.

I think it was "Do as I Do"... but it was so long ago... I was just a kid (I turn 50 next week). I also seem to recall doing something with four jacks and a house on fire theme... can't recall anything else about it (maybe someone can remember for me).

The 21 card trick, of course.
Here's a question - how many of us have had to sit through the 21 card trick, performed by a spectator who "wants to show you a trick he knows"?? Or, a related question, how have you gotten OUT of watching this trick?? |
