I too would be interested to learn what people think.
Perhaps Bill Palmer, a book test collector and authority, will shortly post his thoughts. |

Gasman,
I absolutely agree! Jheff provides a tremendous service to the 'mentalism community'! I always look forward to reading his comments. He is very positive about this effect. Tom |

He does because you get 2 gaffed books and there is more freedom with the word chosen, (more like Mother I'm led to believe).
But Dracula is a real, recognisable book and you still have a solid book test with it. |

I know that some people don't like Economicon because the books are unrecognizable. Both products are outstanding, but comparing it feature to feature (and only because Economicon is similar in price and methodology to DBT) I'd have to favor Economicon for the reasons explained in the comments on my site. But it's almost like choosing between children. I really do highly recommend both. -- Jheff

A decent professional book test prop (i.e. NOT something like "just roll these dice, then add these numbers, then turn to page...") based on a widely known and legitimate piece of English literature is worth way more than this effect is selling for.
And at the price Jheff is asking (http://www.jheff.com/Dracula_Book_Test.html) it is simply and purely a steal. |

My thoughts exactly. I've put an order in and am really looking forward to getting this. My only hope is that, if the creators follow through and produce other gaffed classic books like War of the Worlds and Huckleberry Finn, that they put the "edited by Alexander Black and Troy Cherry" discreetly on the copyright page rather than splashed across the cover. This would be the only drawback to, as Jheff puts it, " a very nice little library of gaffed classics that will be a wonderful addition for any mentalist's library." |

Any Michael Chrichton book from the last decade -- each with a red-white-black cover -- seems to make MOABT look like everyone's novel their mother in law just finished. (I've had people claim they remember READING Fatal Sins!) My point: all you need is one of the new series. Mix it with any of those gaffed books you already own and everything looks legit. |
