I will have to contact Abbotts for more information, because I am a rope, and rubber band nut. THANK YOU MY FRIEND Al Angello

I am sure Abbott's still sells it. It is not expensive at all. And, in fact, is quite simple.
Effect: Magician holds 4 foot rope, spectator fairly cuts it into two pieces (really) the two pieces are tossed into the air, and when they come down are restored and you can give the rope to the spectator as it is ungimmicked. A lot of trouble with added handling, but I had a version with a tag on one end that the speck can sign. No switching. My latest version is that I hand speck a pistol and they shoot at me, the rope breaks into two pieces, I spit out the bullet that I caught in my teeth (gag version) then restore the rope.

I have tried many, but a very little known routine called 'A Slice and a Twist' by Mark Tams has been a godsend for me. I hope that none of you ever find it.

I believe it was also included in one set of his lecture notes, but I don't think that there was an English translation version. |

I have been performing Mr. Takagi's Do as I do rope routine for over a decade. I watched him perform it at FFFF, and get a standing ovation! He produced a japanese rope video overdubed in english. He gave me a copy. It also has many variations on rope effects. I think that Steven's Magic emporium sells it.

Don't overlook Salvano's great rope work. Stevens has it.

Linking Ropes Duane Laflin's performance of the LINKING ROPES is excellent. Prior to watching Duane Laflin's performance, I'd always regarded the LINKING ROPES as a mediocre effect - something uninteresting and trite. As always, it's the singer, not the song.

Michael Finney's LADY ROPE ROUTINE is from the repertoire of a successful professional. It's a 'worker'.

I watched "Do as I do rope trick" by David Cooperfield in the past.
His performance is very interesting. Koji |

I vividly recall seeing Bill Neff perform his "Miracle Rope Routine" at an Abbott's Get-Together many years ago. It is the cleanest, fastest, most visible rope restoration you can imagine. It does require a set up and is easiest to do as an opener. Thanks for reminding us, Pete.

You are absolutely right on page 132, 133, and 134 of the Stewart James' "Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks" is Neff's miracle rope trick. I was not pleased with the 7/32" rope Abbotts sent me, so I'll make my own with some 1/4" cotton rope. THANKS JOHN Al Angello
