If you are refering to the half shells that pivot inside each other to form a shell or a ball, check with Joe Stevens at Stevens Magic Emporium. Joe had these about two years ago in red only, One and three quarters inch diam. He may still have some.
Hope this helps

They have not been availible for 4 or 5 years. Mark Stevens is in the process of trying to find someone else to make them.

Hello,
I got mine on ebay. They cost me a small fortune. They are small, great for close up but not very visible from the stage. I am trying to find a 1 3/4" or 2" set but have had no luck so far. I might have to have some made at my local machine shop ($50/hr)

PS reguarless of the source they are expensive.

If there is enough interest in 1 3/4" shells, I might make a few sets. It is too expensive to just make one or two sets, though.

Jim,
I am interested. If the price was right i would buy 2 or 3 shells. I would assume they would fit Fakini 1 3/4" so I personally would only want the shells themselves.
Also contact a few dealers (especially Stevens). I'm sure that the larger ones get calls regularly about obtaining this amazing gimmick.

Joe;
Yes, shell set only - no balls. What is the diameter of a Fakini 1 3/4" ball measured in thousandths? You can be sure that they are not exactly 1 3/4". It will need to be measured in several places to determine the largest diameter.

Ben - as I PM'd Joe, these would be spun from copper and the biggest expense (time) is in making the steel spinning chuck. There would need to be at least 10 people interested to make the project worthwhile and semi affordable.

Joe, can you email me a jpg of your smaller set to make sure we are all talking about the same thing?

Yes, I would also like to get one of these shells. A copper shell would have no use to me because i use 2" Fakinis'. You should try to make them out of the material Fakini uses. I would even buy two.

Thanks

The copper gets painted to match the balls you use with it. Due to the way they need to be made, the Fakini shells are rather thick and the size difference between the pivoting shells would be too large to be unseen (and the double shell would look "stepped"). If you want it out of the Fakini material, then I suggest you contact The House of Fakini. Perhaps there really isn't enough interest in this item. Maybe that's why the item was discontinued.

The set I use is made of the shell and some Fakini made 1 1/2" balls. The shell is made of aluminum I think but copper would work as well. It is painted to match the ball. Hopefully you could offer it in different colors. Just from the above posts, I think that there would be a market for these.

Jim, I would be interested in the one of the Ross gimmicks. Put me on the list. Aside from the Ross gimmick, I think just regular shells, made of copper would have a pretty good market. They would fit somewhat better than a wooden shell and would be unbreakable ... dentable yes, but still unbreakable. They can of course be used with balls of any composition. The shell is often the only thing that people are looking for. You can get workable balls from a variety of sources, but a good shell is hard to find!

Hello,

Count me in if you make a shell that can fit a 13/4 Fakini. I had one of the Richard Ross shell/balls back when Stevens carried them. They were fun to mess with. . .but very fragile. In fact, if I remember right I had to return the first one because the hinge kind of broke. Good luck. I think it's a great idea.

Thank you,
