Having just gotten into vent, I don't really have much material to practise with. Is there somewhere I could find some scripts with which to practise. I have looked at old radio comedies, but scripts for those can be hard to find as it is.

Basically, I need something to say with my puppet in order practise his character work as well as the voice.
Magically yours,

There are a lot of ventriloquist script in the market, mostly by Col. Bill Boley. Try to find it at http://www.dummyworks.com.

If you like free script, try http://www.axtell.com/axtrack.html. Steve Axtell also put 5 different character voices sample on that page.

Good luck!

Budi, thanks ...that's http://www.axtell.com/axtrax.html

The scripts are all there for you to use, and the sound effects and music are on the CDs which you can purchase. Vents use the tracks without the character voice.

Non-vents use any one of the 5 character voices on the AxTrax Wide Open series.

In addition to the previously mentioned excellent sources, there are a few others available as well:

Professional Dialogues - Paul Stadelman

Ventriloquial Script Source Book - Bill DeMar and Tom Ladshaw

New Laff Tested Dialogues - George McCathy (Mickey Hades Publication)

What influenced you going into vent? What inspired you? Beginner magicians tend to copy professional magicians then develop their own act as they progress. Perhaps the same goes to ventriloquists.
