Top Zombie movie of all or me is Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" (1978).

The remake had its moments, particularly during the first part of the film as the woman is driving her car out of her neighborhood and the camera zooms out, revealing the chaos that is going on all over the city - very startling. Still haven't decided whether I like slow or fast zombies more.

Romero's original "Night...." was classic, too.

Haven't seen "Land..." yet. For some business reason, Blockbuster refuses to carry it.

I didn't like Romero's "Day...." very much at all, though it had some nice moments.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Couldn't Pick Just Three!

Shaun Of The Dead: the ultimate zombie satire.
Day Of The Dead: The least favourite for most people of the Romero films but its gore level and effect far surpasss the previous two films
Return Of The Living Dead 1 and 2: Naked 80's teen zombie dancing in leg warmers! There is a 3, 4 and 5 but not worth a look.
Dawn Of The Dead
Dawn Of The Dead Remake (The best zombie film of the last five years)
Land Of The Dead (I liked it but the war on terror analogy was a little thickly laid on)
Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town (a mid 90s troma film)
28 Days Later (nont technically the living dead. The zombies are alive but insane)
Bad Taste: Peter Jackson's First Film (alien zombies)
Brain Dead; Peter Jackson's second film (regular zombies)
Evil Dead Trilogy: Jumped the shark a bit by the third film but Bruce Campbell is still the greatest zombie slayer of all time.
Night of The Living Dead: set the standard for all the came after.

One of the things that really contributed to the success of the original Dawn of the Dead was its music score, by Goblin. Excellent stuff. I have a copy of the original soundtrack on LP. Lost the jacket, though.

I also have a paperback "novellization" of the movie. Interesting, though not very well-written. Hopefully, someday it will be a piece of valuable memorabilia.

Shawn of the Dead...A great Zombie movie that just happens to have a bit of comedy and romance.
Zombie Honeymoon- Low budget but very serious zombie film.
28 Days Later- Most realistic Zombie film
Ghosts of Mars- Masochistic Space Zombies

Worst Zombie film...Vampires -vs- Zombies. It wasn't even good as a bad movie.
And yeah...
Bruce Campbell is the god of Zombie Hunters (Looks over to his shrine with 18" Army of Darkness ACTION FIGURE! (The only action figure I own) Hard cover copy of "If chins could kill" and autographed VHS of Evil Dead (The original))
Yep...Zombies Good.

Goblin rock !! The remake of Dawn missed the entire point of the original..... The biker scene is the climax and the bikers are the real bad guys in the film..... .... they cut it out .... and they cut out the eating part ..... this is one of the main parts of why the zombies have lost their humanity ....... the original is a work of Pittsburgh fine art !

Has anyone here read the Zombie Survival Handbook?
I read it...And strangely enough, as a "Hobby" started to look at things as though Zombie attack was a real danger. Would go into a building and start thinking about how defensable it was, what zombie effective weapons could be improvised nearby...
It's a good book.

And just a side amusement for Zombie lovers...

I think that is a romantic comedy that just happens to have zombies in it!

The remake is a different film. They attempted to make solely an action adventure survival movie. Pure horror with no real attempt at a social message. So in terms of deeper meaning, the original film is always going to be better.

But as pure action horror film the remake is a masterpiece!

The original Dawn of the Dead is my favorite- the parody of modern mall life is brilliant, plus you get to see the Zombie have his head chopped off by a helicopter!
