I don't know about the science of balloons but I know that things like gloves can be made out of latex or of another material. Is it even possible to do a similar thing with balloons? Do they already exist?

I think you'll be hard pushed to find latex-free balloons. I personally do not know of anywhere that sells latex-free ones, but if I find any, I'll drop you a pm.

Have you tried sheep or pig intestines? I hear it can be done.

We did have a company that was working on a product that made a latex-like balloon. I believe it was a desert plant that grows like a ground cover bush. the leaves had the sap in them.
They came to diamond jam in Phoenix a few years ago. The balloons tasted like a pine tree!!! the material had a expansion of over 500%

I heard they are still available. Comming from australia if I rember right.
But I stopped my search for them because the kid I performed for with a latex allergy was taught to avoid balloons. As I entered one of the first things he asked was: do you have blloons" at first I tought I would dissapoint him by having to say "no". But it was actually a big relief to him. I them realised that bringing in latex free balloons would most probably only be a very confusing thing to this little man. Too bad, but as my brother (who's youngest son also has latex allergy) says "there is plenty other things left to enjoy!" thanks for the information anyway!!! |

If anyone got the resources for latex free balloons, I'll be glad to hear about it too.
