How about Gemini twins from Karl Fulves- More Self Working Card tricks, Pg.1. This is one of my all time favorites and one I still do. It has lots of wonderful opportunities for presentation and has never failed to get a strong reaction from my audience. Also, have to say Devastation on Geoff Willaims DVD is a worker. Jess Cone

I'll throw in Larry Jennings' Impossible. Lazy man's card trick is also very good as others have mentioned. What about Out of this Universe (Harry Lorayne's version of out of this world)? Only problem with that one it can take a while to do all the dealing-first two are better IMO.

"Ritual Abuse", "Six Card Trick", "Halloween Trick"...all on Patrick Duffie's E-book "Card Addict". There are a lot of selfworkers in that book.

I recommend his book "Cards Insight" for some wonderful self-working tricks, but any book of his is worth looking at. His big hardcover book "Effortless Card Magic" is now available in ebook format -- it includes his famous "Vanished or Gone" and about 70 other wonderful tricks. See his website or Lybrary.com. |

Duh, thanks for the clarification Hushai, I meant PETER. Yes, there is an actor by that name. Peter Duffie is one of the most prolific thinkers of this day and age."Card Compulsions" is a favorite of mine also.

I like Polker Player's Picnic from Royal Road, although it requires preperation, so I'm not sure if it is considered self working

One of my favorite self workers is The Power of Poker from John Bannon's Dear Mr. Fantasy. The spectator gets to make all of the choices, there are no forces, sleights or magician's choices to deal with and it slays!

I don't know the name, but I always do an effect wherein the spectator handles the deck, cuts it into four and makes all the Aces appear on top of each pile. Telling my spectators that they could also do Magic.

My all-time favorite sleightless trick is "Challenge Mind Reading," one of Richard Osterlind's applications for his BCS. You can somewhat approximate the Osterlind effect impromptu (but with loss of directness) by doing "Emotional Reaction" from Vernon's Inner Secrets of Card Magic.
Details make perfection, but perfection is no detail.

I like Nick Trost's "8 Card Brainwave" effect. It's self-working, but uses a packet instead of the entire deck. Does that count?
