Well, that was fun while it lasted for the US. LOL!

I watched a little of that Mexico/Iran match. It wasn't too bad.

The movie "Cars" opened last weekend, with expectations of a $70 million opening weekend. It made "only" $60 million on the opening weekend. In a discussion with the press about the disappointing results, Disney stated that it may have fallen short of expectations due to Americans following the World Cup.

The press room immediately broke into laughter.

Unlike many (jealous?) people I rather wanted to see the USA do well in soccer; however, it's a VERY tough group - the Czech's last Monday and Italy tomorrow.

I think we'll have to say 'Goodbye' to them for this tournament.

Hello, Bill. Just curious, but what do you mean by Pele being nationalized by Brazil? Something along the lines of 'raised to iconic status', or similar?

He was put on a special salary by the Brazilian government, with the stipulation that he would not be tradeable to any foreign football team. It was only after his retirement from Brazilian football, that he was allowed to play for anyone else, when he went to New York.

He was later the minister of sport in Brazil.

Ivory Coast and Senegal (sp?)

I know nothing about it and don't give a rip for soccer (the only football I'm interested in has quartebacks, linebackers and punters), but I think I heard these teams mentioned on ESPN radio right before I took a phone call. For all I know they're already out of the tournament, but wouldn't it be impressive if I was somehow even remotely close?

Haha...good try...Spain will be one of the finalists. Don´t know the other. But they played extremely well in the game the other day against Ukraine. Go Spain!

I would say Brazil or Germany. USA not so good. I've heard good things about ghana!

I wish the US was more involved in soccer than american football!

Today's Group E results...

Czech Republic 0 - 2 Ghana

Italy 1 - 1 USA

Mathematically, any two of these teams can still qualify for the next round. It's the most wide open group in the tournament.

Nice game by Ghana - free, flowing and attacking football with a high level of technical skill. Hope they can get into the next round.

Mexico better pull a rabbit out of their hat and win big so they can face Holland. Else they will face Argentina. And that's going to send them home. Unless we witness an upset. Doubt it though...

My money is still on Brazil.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.
