Other than actual ashes what do you or can you use to do this effect?

If you are near a house plant or outside, you can use garden soil. I also sometimes wonder if sugar or salt would work (of course the problem is that they may not stick to the skin and the writing may not be visble). In an office environment, I wonder if the lead from the pencil will work?

Check out Stigmata. Also, depending on your skin color, SWEET & LOW works great, so does pepper. Tony |

You could also check out Reed Mclintock's Stars and Hexes. I love this application of the ashes on the arm.

Thanks for your help. I will look into that. I will have to try the pepper idea.

Coffee grounds, graphite from a pencil works (mentioned above), chalk dust.

Or if you are darker skined like me, use talc. or other fine dust that you could just throw at your arm. It works just as well as using ashes.

I better go tanning I guess.

PMd you this tip, but for the rest of the gang, simply use a toothpic to get your message in before hand. Looks like it was eerily "scratched" into your flesh.

I've tried that once. I found that when I scratch my skin even sith out trying to it would puff up and look like I was breaking out. I used a pen that didn't work any more and made a prediction on my arm like a persons name and waited for a minute or two so the scratches would become visible.
also you don't have to get a tan to do the powder trick. you could always mix a flourecent pigment in the powder and us a uv light to light the name, or mark. |

How about ashes on arm, without an arm!!
That would be cool. |

I use chocolate powder, or simple everyday dirt from ground.

Part of the beauty of ashes is the burning of the written "randomly" chosen card or other choice. There is really strong connection between the ashes and the revelation, as if the "answer" came from the ashes themselves. It takes it beyond a simple prediction.
Pepper, dirt, coffee etc all sound like they would work functionally, but what about logically? Any other ideas? Is there a way to "burn" something without fire? |

Logic: 'Here, write down the name of your card with this pencil. Now I am going to actually shave what you wrote off the pencil with this pencil sharpener. Now if I collect the shavings (and shaved lead) and run them on the inside of my arm....'
Dang, I just typed myself out of another ebook.

Not bad. Was chewing on this idea in the car after posting this a.m.
What if you had a water-activated invisible ink that would write on skin. Also, you have a pad of water soluble paper. Paper is dissolved and drippings are used to activate the prediction. Anyone know if any of those materials are readily available? |

I may have already answered my suggestion. Anyone ever use dissolvo paper? http://www.ronjo.com/Merchant2/merchant.......dslvo2x3
Also, this might work too: http://www.getspfx.com/Magic%20Blood%20Powder.asp Any other appearing inks that are activated by water? |

I have a blood power that is activated by water. I'm thinking making the message appear in blood would be really cool, but you'd have to look fast because the minute you move your arm the blood would run... Which could also be very cool.
