For those who own any of the Semi-Automatic Card Trick books by Steve Beam, this will be great news! Steve told me that Volumes 6 and 7 will be released in early September. He will be taking pre-publication orders in about 2 or 3 weeks. I have read the galleys from both and seen Steve perform many of the new effects and these two books are the best yet! For those who don't own any of the books from this series, let me tell you why I am so excited. These books are dedicated to killer effects that require no sleight of hand (ok, maybe a double-undercut or double lift - thus the SEMI-automatic in the titles), but these are not your boring mathematical effects or counting tricks that your uncle showed you when you were a kid - these are pet effects and cutting-edge principles from the minds of people like Juan Tamariz, Max Maven, Peter Duffie, Tom Craven, Rafael Benatar, Gary Plants, Simon Lovell, Dave Solomon, R. Paul Wilson, Marty Kane, Bob Farmer, and on and on. The genius of these effects is in the method, not the sleight of hand. And the best part of all...is that Steve Beam's personality is all over these books, which means not only are the effects mind-boggling - but entertaining, as well! If you love card tricks, it just doesn't get any better than this...or funnier!

I like Steve's work and bought the first two books in the series;
but how many card tricks do we need ?
Seven volumes of self working card magic ! It sounds almost like Steve's idea of a joke. However good the books are, and I'm sure they will be good, I won't be buying one.
Sorry.

And I do know they are Semi-automatic and not self-working; it just sounds better !

Steve's website makes no mention of a Volume 7 but does say that he is working on Volume 6. Perhaps his home-page is out of date?

Trust me...I have read both volumes 6 AND 7. Both will be released in September. Steve confirms this date, as well. And both are great!

I can't wait.

Although it's been over 25 years since I met him, I still count the work I saw him do at the local magic shop as the most magical I've ever seen. I've never been impressed by many of the "new" popular magicians -- the last "famous" one that I liked being Doug Henning. Only the magician's I have seen close up...regular guys like most of us, I'd imagine...have truly inspired awe.

I will skip the pre-ordering, and wait till the book's really are out.
No blame on mr Beam or his wondefull book's, but personaly I'm getting tired to make pre-orders, which, as far as I know, always leads to frustration and anger. Because whatever you have ordered never is ready on the promised date.
Just my 2 cents.

Peo, you might be right, however one could well take advantage of the PREPUBLICATION SPECIAL package. Just check it out, it looks good.
