It seems that the convention always seems to fall right at the first week of school. Is that by design? It would make sense because most schools aren't hiring performers during that first week which would allow school show performers a better chance to attend.
For those of us part timers who also happen to be teachers it makes it nearly impossible to attend. Are there others in the same boat? |

Actually every angle is taken in to account when the dates are set.
School calendar start dates very widely throughout the US from the first of August until after Labor Day in September. That's one thing we look at. Down time for a majority of kidshow performers, but of course not everyone falls at this time. This is important in scheduling our pro lecturers. Avoiding conflict with other conferences datewise is also an important consideration. Hotel and meeting space availability dictates to a large degree, along with the planners schedule. All of this said, we've discovered there is no perfect date, just some that work best with the normal endless puzzle pieces that must align to make all this happen. Whew, I'm glad I paid attention in problem solving class when we went over that chapter:>) The great news is we're there and it's happening big! Don't miss it all if you can't come from the start, come in for the weekend, as lot's of folks do. It's that good! Mark |

No date will please everyone. In NJ the kids don't go to school until the first week in September. In Pigeon Forge area the go to school the week KIDabra starts. This makes for lover room rates, and is considered off season for the local businesses, meaning cheaper prices.
I like the time slot, June and July are the big months for SAM and IBM, September is MAES. The beginning of August is Abbotts. It's tough finding a date that will satify the masses. I'm hoping this time slot stays because those of us from the North East, it works well.
