John, here is a link to an article I wrote for Stevens Magic web site
http://www.stevensmagic.com/featuredstory/capaul/index.asp I've organized many sources that are valuable. I have been doing rings for most of the time I've been in magic, about 30 years. I always advise magicians to have two different ring routines. I persoanlly use variations of the Whit Haydn 4 ring routine, and the Al Koran 3 ring routine. This give me flexibility to perform to patter, or silent. The Jeff McBride routine from his Magic On Stage videos is the best silent six ring routine I have ever seen. Dai Vernon's routine is a classic for a reason but doesn't work very well when done alone, and silent. A few years ago I watched Jonathon Neal Brown do a two ring routine. It was set to music and performed very smoothly. The only draw back was a lack of a punch ending. This could be overcome by using an effect as a segue into another routine ala Jeff McBride in his videos. Try to be as original as possible and don't be afraid to experiment with different routines, and versions until you settle on one you really like.

Thanks JC
That was an interesting read. You seem to think 8" is about as good as 10 or 12", yet most others seem to recommend at least 10" for parlor. I may try to stop in Tannens this weekend to make my own opinion. I still can't get over how "cool" the crash link looks John
