I've got a really great reaction and feedback from the audience after I have added the parasol techniques taught on the DVD into my stage act. I have done the Split Production, Back Production, the Parasol Climax (Five parasols explosion) and the Jumbo Parasol Production. What I can say is, they are really GREAT! Not too difficult to perform, but I got a lot of 'WOW' by performing them.
Personally, only the above 4 techniques already worth the price of the DVD. I can't wait to add all of them into my act. I have watched the entire DVD 3 times, and I can find new ideas each time. Applause to Joker Lam!! Anyone know if there is any lecture or private tuition by Joker Lam? If yes, I will be the first one to join! Can't wait to watch his live performance! As a Chinese, I think it is a very good start of the development of Magic in Hong Kong. I am really pround of it!! Joe |

What's the point of mearely quoting a long earlier post without adding anything constructive to it?

You can also get the DVD and parasol set from us here at http://www.wonderwarehouse.com. We have them in stock and ready to ship.
Since I owned the magic hands in Germany for some time I would like to comment on the post by rmoreleta that when the magic hands supplied the umbrellas those where the Japanese umbrellas which at that time were the only usable set of production umbrellas out there and they were quite expensive for us to buy. The new umbrellas now released are almost identical in quality and the price is unbelievable. |

I am using Fukai parasol for over 10 years.
Since it was hard to get them (and expansive) I got the new set and the DVD. I must say it's a grate DVD and the parasols are much stornger, they have two side covers and the price is grate. I allready added them to me show with new ideas from the DVD. Highly recommended.

Good instructional DVD. The first of its kind. I've been doing parasol productions over the years. I particularly liked his short holder with a rubber band. So simple, why didn't I think of that.
The steal from the table is also a good move. I have another instructional Parasol DVD from a magician from Macaw named "Raymond" but Joker Lam's DVD is exceptional.

It's exceptional indeed.
I wish he expounded more on how to make the holders. For us who already know dove pockets and holders, this would be easy. It's just to make the DVD complete. Or could have added the holders to the 7 parasol kit. The parasols are great too! I wish we could buy them individually rather than the kit. |

The only thing missing on the DVD is a short beginner act using several parasols.
The ideas are good. The DVD quality was good as well. If you're wanting to buy individual parasols, let me know. I might be able to get you them on an umbrella by umbrella basis Frank

The demo video for it looks really good (check out the ending where Lam does this very visual parasol production ALA silk fountain ) ...I honestly think for the price, his parasols & DVDs are good investment Sure gives me fond memories of Fukai's act when I watched him LIVE!

Hi Ning,
Like what I've mentioned before, the dvd is a great material for those who want to venture into parasol magic. I've met a young lady when I attended the AMA Convention in China. Her name is Young Lulu and she produced around 30 plus parasols. She was awesome! Sal |

Just received this DVD and I must say, I was totally surprised at all the methods and information contained in the video. It is great, and if you want to produce parasols, this is the DVD that will give the secrets. It will take months of work to get it right, but that is what it is all about. Practice.
Wonderful DVD. Highly Recommended!! |

Hi,,, i`m from malaysia i`m not shame to admit this is seriously the first time I get ORIGINAL MAGIC PRODUCTS.. BY THE WAY... I`M CHARLSTON WHO USES MY FRENS ACCOUNT.
when I bought it home.... I say WOW!!!! holy s**t!!! this is *** good *** *** good!!!! I really love it!!! you see... this is how I describe the parasols itself... regular parasols that i`m using all these while opens with a FFFFOOOOOP!! BUT THE PARASOLS IN JOKER SET GOES....POP!! (goes the weasel?) or should I say they open with a real snap? yes... they do open with a real snap.. no chance for the audience to see the expanding process of the parasol... when they see it,, it already opened.. looks like real magic. yes, i`ve watch young lu lu before..amazingly talented... you wont expect asian taste in her parasol routine!!(e.g.the chinese especially...the more the merrier, kinda thinking) surprisingly... the ways the parasols are produce REALLY VARIES FROM PARASOL TO PARASOL!! wat a perfect routine!! I really love it when one of her parasols produced are just spoke!! she acted embarassingly.. and POP!! visually restore it!! simply an act worth to watch.. young lu lu.. when I ask abt the springs I mean the strength and the speed when it open.. ok... so the parasols will get a 100% score from me... as for the dvd.. I dunno y there are so many flashes and uncertain movement portray by joker himself?? in the promo found on web.. the moves are all perfectly executed!! but in the teaching section.. it was demonstrated badly man.....off timing steals.. so and so.. BUT the IDEAS are excellent... I repeat.. EXCELLENT!! one thing I hate about it, joker DO NOT TEACH HOW TO PROPERLY STEAL TWO PARASOLS AT THE SAME TIME!!!! can someone give me some tips?? trial and error is ok for me.. but I prefer queries and answer more.. thanks plz..

Do you have to buy two sets of parasols to do all the effects. It seems like 7 just isn't enough....just a simple question.

Well, there were long discussion and commend about the product.
What can I say is It is really a STEAL, not the low price but others' ideas and methods. Many of you mention about Fukai and sorry for Fukai don't have a full Parasol Act production lecture in video or DVD. He only provide private lesson to students. Personally, As one of the Hong Kong professional magicians, I really not proud of this product which commend by some Café members as a nice product of Hong Kong. Because it is only release others' honorable creations without any premission. It really upset Mr. Fukai, cause Joker is really only stay on the foot of the mountain. BTW, someone may ask Why I can post this commend and Who I am. I only can tell Magic Fukai and me are like brother as we are learn from the same magic teacher in Japan. There were 2 Chinese learn from our teacher, who is me and Erick Ching. Erick had the full Parasol Act and I had did parasols production since 80'. Nowaday, I only can tell Traditional Paper Parasols Production is a kind of Japanese Classic Magic and one of the masters is Mr. Shimada. When we talk about Modern Parasols Act, I think we will only think of Magic Fukai. No matter which types of the above, I only recommend learn it from the masters' private lesson, and not from media products. |

I personally feel that the DVD has it's place. And you are right Mr Lam "stands at the foot of the mountain". This makes a lot of sense since this DVD is geared toward the beginner in magic with parasols.
Yes Mr. Fukai might be the best known magician for a modern umbrella act but I would not agree that Mr. Lam stole from Fukai by describing some beginners methods for work with production umbrellas. I think it has created a lot of interest in this segment of stage magic and that might be very beneficial for Mr. Fukai if he ever decided to put out his advanced work on DVD. |

I don't know whether joker Lam has properly credited the originators of this parasol production, but isn't it a matter to be taken up between Mr. Fukai and Mr. Lam? Also, your recommendation to only learn guarded techniques from the masters is rather condescending - maybe not all of us can afford the time and expense to seek such private tuition. If the only way to learn magical secrets still remained as you liked, then I don't think magic would enjoy the universal appeal it has today. Perhaps its best not to think only in archaic paradigms and embrace the new technology offered in the 21st century! DVDs, downloads, ebooks are here to stay - whether we like it or not! Also, you DON'T speak on behalf of ALL magicians in Hong Kong - although you may think you do...To me, it seems to stink of 'professional jealousy' - which is unfortunately prevalent and permeates magic in Hong Kong. |

[/quote] Well, I never say I represent "All magicians in Hong Kong"., pls don't put that on me. I am only a guy who love the Art of Magic too much and grow with Hong Kong magic community in last 30 years. I think the most problem in Hong Kong magic community now is there are lot more theives., more candles, parasols and balls....more flame drop on stage floor., more un-professional magicians made people believe they are one of the masters because they can affort watch 5 latest magic DVD a day. Nowaday, I believe I no need to have any "professional jealously" as you mention. I only can tell Magic Fukai is upset., not because more people can do the Parasol production but we seem lose the code of Ethics. Due to the Joint I.B.M. / S.A.M. Ethics Statement. 1/ Display ethical behavior in the presentation of magic to the public and in our conduct as magicians, including not interfering with or jeopardizing the performance of another magician either through personal intervention or the unauthorized use of another's creation. 2/ Recognize and respect for rights of the creators, inventors authors, and owners of magic concepts, presentations, effectsand literature, and their rights to have exclusive use of, or to grant permission for the use by others of such creations. I understand we have now high technical which help our magic world a lot., just as now I am using the technical sharing my point of view in this wonderful place with my poor English. But.....We must think about do we only needed to know about the secrets or we needed really can present the wonder to our audience or friends. On the other hand, I believe all of us have the right to maintain our own creations for ourself or give them to those we love to. I respect Mr. Shimada who share his magic experience of his Doves Act and Manipulation Act but maintain his Japanese Parasol Dragon Act. Personally, I feel upset as Magic Fukai because we are in a family. |

Joker Lam seems to have joined the Café on October 3 - or someone using his name.
I have watched video of his work and he is an amazing performer. Parasols from parasols to breakfast as we might say in Australia. They were coming from everywhere. |
