Hello everyone! I am writing to find out if anyone else out there has traveled on tour with Andre' Kole. Who are you? When did you travel? Where are you now? What are you doing now?
I know there are more out there, so let's meet you. I will start... My name is David Matheus... I traveled with the tour in '96 - '97 (and had a blast!). I now live in a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA with my wife and I have my own show. (It is nowhere the size of Andre's show, but it is perfect for me.) Hope to hear from you, Dave M. |

I personally didn't travel with Andre; however, he helped my dad organize his show as we did our '86 US Tour... Andre came through Redding, Ca. around the time you were touring with him... We all did lunch prior to his performance... He's a great guy and has a wealth of knowledge!

I first saw Andre' perform while I was a college student around 1971. After the program was over, I remember stating to myself, "That's how a Christian should perform magic." I kept up with him a bit over the years, and eventually hosted him in 1985.
I became as associate of Andre's in 1987 and was part of his staff until 1996. During those years I went out on the road a few times as needed. I had the privilege to on his staff during the creation and introduction of "Just Passing Through," "Harmonic Convergence," and "Walking On Water." During that time Andre' also developed an appearance from a 6' weather balloon that was on the road for a short time. He was working on the present steel plate penetration back then as well as other ideas. I appear every once in a while as an assistant on both the "Illusion and Reality" and the "Miracles and Deception" videos. I think one of the sweetest parts of being an assistant for Andre was being on stage when he levitated. It was an amazing feeling to be right there next to him while he was in the air! Very electrifying! I had the opportunity to meet a lot of very gracious magicians (amateur and professional) and "lay" people. I met a number of pastors who shared that either they or their wives had received Christ at one of Andre's performances while they were in college. On the other hand, one of the most disappointing aspects of touring was seeing how rude other magicians could be. I remember a show or two where "magicians" decided they could walk backstage because they were "magicians." I was amazed at how gracious Andre was in all these kinds of situations. Eating ice dream after the shows at Denny's or whatever restaurant we could find open around midnight was always a highlight, as well as hitting Waffle House at other times! A lot of great memories and funny stories! Andre' is not only the consummate performer, but a first-class gentleman. I'm blessed to not only have been an associate of his, but especially to be a friend. I left Andre's staff to "plant" and pastor a church in Medina, Ohio. That's where I am to this day! Terry

Wow .. what a great story .. nothing like having a full meal after midnight. People don't choose to go to Denny's .. they go because it's the only place that's open.
Isn't Andre' in bed by 10pm anyway?? Steve |

I am invovled with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians. Over the years Andre has passed through Denver, and on several occassions he has been willing to meet with members of our group to discuss magic and share a meal. I have watched him interacting with the audience after performances, and Terry you are right, Andre is very much a gentlemen and a pleasure to spend time with.

I used to help Toby Travis and Adrian Van Vactor when they worked and lived in Minneapolis, MN. I know Adrian worked with Andre' and I had the opportunity to help Andre' load in and spend some time with him before a show to pick his brain. He was really cool. A few years later I ran into him at the IBM convention in Kansas City, it was the first time he had gotten to see me perform, and he had the fewest but kindest and supportive comments I've ever gotten. and his show is awesome, the guy's crazy brilliant

Dave!
I kind of took your place on the AK tour. I traveled with Andre from 1997-2000. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Right now, I am traveling with The Spencers and living in Lynchburg, VA. My wife and I have been with them for 6 years now. Also a very rewarding experience. David Knight |

I toured with Andre during the 1987-1988 season. I was actually "on loan" to him from Youth For Christ, who I was serving at the time as a Special Representative. Andre was tremendously instrumental in helping me launch my first large-scale illusion show. The experience I gained from touring with Andre and his team during that year was incredibly valuable, and the friendships that were made have lasted now for 20 years.
Today I'm still traveling the U.S. as a performer and a speaker as well as South Asia, Eastern Europe, South America, and occasionally the U.K. |
