I think name changes should be reserved for cases of lifetime bans only. Otherwise it's just vanity.

Mr. Z was an undisputed master of a great many things, some of which he shared with the forum, and some of which he kept to himself (although he wasn't a "Dr") ... kingstardog on the other hand, was a walking library, a repository of an immense amount of very hard to come by information, most of that information gained through his own first hand experience.
Both were friendly and willing to exchange ideas and information once you got to know them. Yes, the Gambling Spot was a very different place back in the day ... very different. If folks with a similar interest actually started back at page #1 of the Gambling Spot, dated all the way back in January 2006, and ground their way through each and every thread, they'd be quite surprised at what they'd find buried deep in some of those multi-page exchanges.

Yes, I have done some of that-just clicked on old threads, some of which I remember, those were really the days. There used to be a lot more....talk in this forum, not so much about magic tricks. There is gold in there
I also think Z held a lot information, but was also a helpful guy, and is a nice guy. I guess I had forgot about kingstar. And who can forget Doc and his “special” way of communicating. |

Besides being friendly and very helpful ... DOC was always consistent. If you showed him respect - he showed you respect.

DOC had (has) a unique way of communicating that some folks took the wrong way. Even though he frequently obliged me to re-think some things I had commented on, it always resulted in my learning something new, and it was always in the spirit of DOC sharing his knowledge.
You had to be able to read between the lines, and parse out the relevant information under discussion.

For sure, I certainly learned a lot over the years from him. I wasn't so much how he spoke to me, just some others, and one other thing that was years ago.
From what I see here, and other forums/groups, a lot of this comes down to bickering - and I guess I have been a part of that over the years. So I will try to stop |

I heard that DOC is retiring but I also heard that he has to make some money before he does so. Honestly he should have saved or invested in the stock market or something.

It described real hustler control shots such as, The New Maxim, Indian Shot, Hudson, Pique, and the Pad Roll plus it included how-to-win info on proposition bets, percentages and odds! I obtained a copy as a teenager and learned a lot about controls shot from this book, shots from the hand, against a backboard and shots from a dice cup. In addition, there were many dice proposition bets included used by hustlers in private craps games that gave them a significant edge with fair dice. This was a book written by hustlers for hustlers and many of the shots are still good today depending upon the game being played and the situation encountered. Latter day casino control shots where described more in detain by Forte in his Gambling Protection Series videos and Casino Game Protection book. John Scarne in Scarne on Dice also described some control shots as well as in Scarne's Complete Guide to Gambling book. I don't know how to obtain a copy of How to Control Fair Dice as it has been out of print for many years but I still have two copies packed away in my collection. Some control shot use a strong spin to control one or both dice, others box in the controlled die in some manner, some simply slide or scoot the dice without having them turn over and still others, like the pad roll, simply use the revolutions of the dice to kill certain combinations. Control shots can and are used in many gambling situations involving dice but as usual, the really big money is obtained by beating the casinos. In this regard, beating the casino craps game with some form of control shot still happens from time to time but in this case it usually requires a team effort to be successful. The above control shots are not to be confused with the concept of "dice setting" which does not work, is promoted by fraudulent claims as to its efficacy and is sold to unsuspecting prospects as a way to beat the casino craps game. Members would be advised not to fall for this scam. |
