I am eyeing some stuff that I think I can make work for a kidz show. Please give me your thoughts if you HAVE used any of these on kids. Thanx!
Half Dyed Hank: http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/product.php......p;page=1 My concern here is length of routine and the ability of kids 6 and under to follow along. What are your thoughts? Knots Off Silk: http://daytonamagic.net/customer/index.c......tId=8983 Same concerns as above, will they get it? Rainmaker: http://masterofillusions.ca/master_of_il......aker.htm I think this could be an AWESOME effect, at the right time & the right place. What if the kids did a rain dance (or is this offensive?) What size crowd will this work for? Will all 40 kids feel the water? Ultimate Sketch Pad http://hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/?hn=1 I think kids would love it, and it seems to have a few pluses compared to my Axtell board, this one can be set down and the eyes continue movement without you holding it, and the page is torn off and handed out as a souvenir. But what are the negatives? Also- I would like to take a Jumbo sized playing card and do a torn & restored routine, does one exist, or do you have any ideas? |

These all seem like pretty good choices. I have the Ultimate Sketchpad and, frankly, I prefer my Axtell Drawing Board. It's just easier to use, nothing to replace and plays larger for me...my personal opinion.
I like the Rainmaker and wasn't aware of it. This looks like it would be perfect for those hot summer outdoor walkarounds. I do pre-game meet-&-greet magic for the local MLB baseball team. Depending on the setup, this would work great on those hot afternoons! Thanks for bringing it to my attention...I'll have to give it a try. My advice, however, would be to create you own kid-friendly patter to accompany the routine. Make it uniquely yours apart from the mysticism. Have you considered the products offered by Tim Sonefelt at WonderImagery.com? He has some killer Jozo Bozo and Mike Bent silk items that might work great for you...and you can't beat the silk work. Best of luck!! Skip

From what the creator (Peter Loughran) has posted, Rainmaker is designed for small groups (e.g., 5, 6, or so). It will not get all the members of a large group (e.g., 40). I hope this helps.

Peter,
I just went to you site and watched the video...WOW! I'm so impressed with you magic and creativity. Having just gigged last night with a rousing crowd doing close-up magic, I can see the impact on spectators will be invaluable. Can't wait to order Rainmaker for myself. Can you do it indoors? I'm assuming it mostly for outdoors.

Smoke, This morning I watched a local peer perform Billy's Half-Dyed Hank. It was a killer routine in his hands. The kids...and parents...loved it. High recommendation on that one!!
