The original effect was the transposition of a $1 and $5 bill. With the redesign of most of our paper currency, using an old $1 with a new $5 won't work. Anyone out there come up with any combinations to use the same technique? For instance, using the new $5's and $10's? Or is everyone begging the bank to hold onto old $5's for them?

Since you don't borrow the $5 bill, just get your hands on a number of old ones and use those.

I don't understand why using an old one and a new five won't work.

Hi Lance,
The new bills are too dissimiliar in appearance to the old for the gaff to work. |

Hi, Don,
Sorry if I'm being obtuse, but it looks to me like if you make a gimmick from an old one and a new five, it would work just fine. Cheers, Lance |

I have been using Mike Bornstein's version of the $1 & $5 bill switch since before he released it to the market. I think it is the superior version. I have always used it with a $1 & $20. It is the same. I had no trouble with the new bills & can't imagine why anyone would have trouble. Mike advertises in MUM & Linking Ring. He supplies you with the trick already set to go with real money.

I used the old one & new five for 5 hours walkaround recently and it worked great.

Just a quick question: Is this trick possible using English currency??
|

It should be possible with any two bills that are the same size (and in some cases, even when they're not).

Does it work with bill same size but different color?

If both bills have an approximately equal amount of the same kind of border, then yes. Even without the border, it's possible; one would just need to be extra careful covering edges.

I've seen Roger Klause do this effect about 10 times. I believe he could use an English pound note and a safeway coupon with no flash.
If I could only find a good writeup of this effect. Dave |

Thanks Ropefiend.
I'll try it with the new $5. If it works for you, should work for me. I really thought that the backgrounds were too dissimiliar. |

Even though I'm not a video learner - Does anyone have this video for sale?
Thanks Dave |

Once you make the gaffed bill, will any banks take back the mutilated 5$ bill and 1$ bill to make the trick?

I just got this several weeks ago and it is awesome. Just did it for my wife this afternoon and she was screaming "How did you do that!?" I had to tell her or not get supper and even after she knew, she still couldn't believe how convinceing it was. I did this with a new $5 bill and it works perfect. Naturally, with any effect, presentation is everything. Like Dai Vernon said, "Be natural" . If you as the magician, don't act as if anything secret is happening, then your audiance will be compelled to believe that it happened by magic.

I've come up with a method of using Roger Klause's Ultimate Slow Motion Bill Transposition where both bills can be inspected after the trick is performed. PM me if you would like to know my method.
