I have a question. I related a story , true ,but rather embarassing. About an incident that occurred at one of my performances. Someone mentioned to me that they saw it on the internet while doing a search with the search engine Yahoo. I went there and saw it also. I didn't realize that when you posted something on the Magic Café (for the benefit of your peers) that it would end up out there for anyone to view. Surprise! Surprise! Maybe I'm a little naive but I'm not into this computer world as much as I would like. But it has certainly stopped me from making some other posts that may be helpful to others , but I would not want viewed by everyone and anyone. Alan. Hope this doesn't seem petty. But it was a surprise

Remember that even though this is the MagicCafe, it's still the internet.

Well as I said , Im not that computer literate, and it's not the end of the world. But in future I will be a little more careful what I post. Alan

The Magic Café topics come up quite often when I Google for something about magic.
I do believe that there are ways to prevent those nosey search engine robots from indexing the Café but not sure it would be worth the effort. |

The search engines do not spider(search index) posts in in areas requiring password access. (Secret Sessions and the like)

Yeah, what Rob said. 50-post forums, private forums, hidden forums, private messages, search pages - all of that is hidden from external search engines. Blocking everything from those external engines would be very easy, but I'm not sure that's something Steve would want to do.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

Thanks for the feedback , maybe I'll just try to get 50 posts then. But the way I post that's about a year away. Alan
