I am looking for a trick where you put a cigarette plainly in your fist roll up your sleeves and the cigarette vanishes. I don't think this uses a thumb tip. I don't mean to mention names but I saw cyril do this and criss angel do it on one of there past episodes. If you fellow magicians could help me out that would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you very much Chris Oberle |

A cigarette pull tenyo makes a flesh colored one . Also I have seen it in black metal Mesh screen style. Try Tannen's magic or Abbots magic I still think the TT is the way to go , don't forget tinfoil inside the end of the tip .

I have both the pulls mentioned and use the flesh coloured only if I want to vanish a whole cig as opposed to a butt (the fleah one being longer)
It can also be used to vanish bills as well, as when rolled they will expand and hold tight. My preference is for the smaller black mesh one on grounds of concealment and the fact most people object to losing a whole cig. Depending on placement you can of course reappear the article but to my mind this removes some of the mystery. Keeping the object vanished into the ether is also most desirable when using large denomination bills Enjoy your coffee Mike
It's times like this I wish I'd listened to what my Grandad used to say...

Steve Draun has perfected this trick and made it to one of his features. I think that he sells a very dependable gimmick for this on his site and I even think that I have seen him perform it on a video from International Magic. If you are interested in this it is worth checking out and see how it looks when it is done right.

I really like Cyril's performance on this, and He does use TT. His handling is superb and makes us wonder whether He use TT or not. You may also want to look John Cornelius' handling in his Book or DVD Creative Magic of JC, which does not use TT.
What I am interested actually the manipulation routine that Cyril use before he completely vanish the cig, when the cig seems vanish while His hands make some flourish move (looks like wipe clean with cig..) at the end the cig is held in his lips (then he perform the complete vanish). Can anybody help where I could learn the manipulation routine? Thanks. Jeff

Bazar de Magia makes a vented cig pull which allows the cigarette to stay lit for a short period of time for re-appearing should you want to.

I don't agree that Cyril's vanishing cigarette looks so good.
I once saw Penn or Teller perform it on television. He took a big zip from the cigarette, pushed it with his right hand in his horizontal positioned left fist, brought the left fist to his mouth, opened his left fist graciously and exhailed the smoke at the same time. Looked MUCH more magical than the "poking" and backsteal of Cyril's. |

Oh buy the way, I strongly suggest only to use the Japanese vinyl thumb tips for vanishing a lit cigarette. No aluminum foil needed.

Btw as far as I know Cyril performed it in 2 videos/clips, the 1st one can be found in Youtube.com ("Magic for Kwon"), I watch the 2nd one (the un-cut one) in his DVD (don't know which one) during the interview section.
