There are not so many differnt magic effects: color changes, appear - disappear, enlarge something (or make it smaller), read minds, predict something (of course some further basic ideas . . . ) and of course
levitate something. I prefer the dancing cork (is it cork in english too, the brown thing to close a bottle of wine). I peform it with a little golden ball from christmas tree. What is you favorite levitation effect for table magic? |

Yes it is cork in English aswell. Anyway, I believe the best levitation for close-up to be either Derk Losander's floating cane or his Japanese Paper Ball. The ball gets the edge for value for money.

Losander also has an excellent handling of the floating bill that appeared in his issue of Genii I believe.

Is it the 'loops' one? I'm not sure, but I saw a lecture back in , think it was january, and his stuff is amazing!

Favorite levitation effect for close up is without a doubt Finn Jon's 3D ball, it's very different from most other lev. effects. Unfortunately it's not found in any books or DVD's - yet.

Mine is Losander's Floating Table. Laymen can't believe they can look under the cloth and the hands free feature freaks them out!

My favorite levitation effect is floating a card at the end of an ambitious card routine. As I always say; Once you've floated a card a coulpe of feet away from a spectator, where do you go from there? Oh right, I also have Losander's Table.

Yigal Mesika's Spider Pen; when the dollar bill routine's performed correctly and in an appropriate setting, it's hands down one of the best levitations IMO. Not to mention the myriad other effects that can be achieved with a little imagination and the requisite practice. The only modification I've made to mine is replacing the standard 25' spools with 50' kevlar ones, these are available at Sorcery's website or you can spool them yourself if you have old/extra/broken spools lying around and some kevlar thread.

There are so many. If you would have asked me this question about a couple of years ago I would have quickly answered Steve Fearson's floating cigarette (Any object) and Kevin James floating rose. Those two are still at the top of my list.
But lately it's been a combination of Chris Brent's flying silk and Kevin James' floating rose. This routine also has a lot of similarities to Fearson's Floating cigarette. So to me it's kind of a combination of my favorites. The routine starts out like the floating cigarette but it's a floating ball of paper. Then it goes into the floating rose. I walk out into the middle of the audience and the rose is fallowing me as it floats. It looks really cool when it's fallowing me out there. It's as if it's alive and can magically float and fallow me where ever I go. I walk out to a spot that's safe and make the rose float in one spot. Then light it and it turns into a real rose. It's a very magical routine and it's becoming my favorite. I did a version of it this year at the Abbott's get together that received quite a bit of attention. Ron Jaxon |

I do Steve Dusheck's Wunder Bar set up with the Fearson cigarette hookup. It works great as I don't smoke.

I've not done it much lately, but the Kaps Floating cork has to be the best I've encountered/done.

The floating rose, bill and napkin. I've not seen the cork. Gotta look into that one!

Joseph,
Thanks for the link... this one's excellent! The 5 inch ring and giving the cork away does it! Very nice routine! Jim |
