Just a quick vid of my hanging coins I would like some feedback on please.
I wouldn't normally perform this so quickly but my camera had a time limit. Same for the quality; webcam not the best.
This is particularly good for smaller borrowed coins such as quarters as shown on the vid.

Thanks

Hi Rik,

There's a lot of good stuff going on there. I had some trouble with the angles at times, as your hand seem to disappear way behind your elbows and obstruct the view considerably. I understand it's probably a camera thing, but it did disrupt the visual "story" somewhat. The sleights look very good though, well done!

Thanks, I struggle a bit with the camera, keep trying to move the 'wrong way' if that makes sense to get back in frame! The story is regarding to invisible pockets magicians use to help them. The bit you referr to which is hard to see is putting the coin in 'invisible sleeve', and subsequently taking it out again. Something to make sure is visible in future, thanks!

Although the video was a little choppy the routine actually looked quite good. You are on the right path. That's actually good coming from me as the 'Hanging Coins' theme is one of my least favorite in coin magic! It's not that it doesn't fool me, so much as it appears (generally) to have way too many moves. The first time I saw David Roth do it I was totally confused by the constant in and out of the hands. It's been pretty much the same with every version I have seen.

I often think of the better versions of Three Fly as the trick that Hanging Coins should have been....Yep, I know they are different themes, etc. It's the cleanness factor that bothers me.

That said, stay with it and if you can put up a cleaner vid. Best regards,

More truth to that statement than folks might expect. David Roth mentioned he was working from Ramsay's Three Coins in the Hat routine with an eye toward the vanishes. David had mentioned this back in 1976. An EG based version of the trick was something I felt he left as an obvious student level exercise and not worthy of mention.

I was working at Ramsay routine but with an eye toward the earlier part and wanted something instead of passing coins through the back of my hand. Having them jump as in the Slydini routine seemed a good idea. Taking those jumps from palm down and tabled as in the Slydini routine more open display as per the rest of the Ramsay routine was a challenge.

As to the Hanging coins itself... if you make the fourth coin something special and different, you can more readily use it as a wand in this context. I liked to combine Schneider's Coins Across and Roth's Hanging Coins and his Chink-a-Chink in routine back then , all using three silvers and one replica of an ancient Greek coin. This was 1977-78.

I got mine after being told I wasn't allowed a picture of just a coin, I hadn't see nany others at that point, it just seemed the obvious thing to do!
Any more comments about the routine?
