I agree with Lex. The waistcoat is great. I wonder how long it took him to come up with it. Lex, unfortunately I will not be attending FISM this year but do you know if Sos and Victoria Petrosyan ever travel to the United States and perform?? I am thinking of going to Benidorm, Spain where they are doing some shows to see them do their quick change act there, but I wish they would come to the U.S. Also do you have any videos I can purchase or see of you performing the quick changes??

@ elecktra:

A video you will find on my website. I downt know how difficult it is to perform in the USA. You have a artist couple, who has save some rights of this several houndred years old art of making such costumes in your country. In Europe such thinks not work. In Europe we have so much quick-change artists - this is such a wunderfull art. Read carefully the MAGIC magazine and you understand. I know 15 acts of quick-change couples and all are very good. You know mind: the quick-change artistry live outside the magic circles. Nobody invest 10000 USD and much more in costumes for a Magic act. If anybody invest in costumes - he will work with this costumes - not show it. You find this artistry in Circus, Varieté, Cruiserships, Galas. In Magic Conventions you will find few artists. Quick Change is a proper art of magic. It is no parlor and no illusion. Quick Change artists downt make magic tricks - there make transformations. Not more - not less.

I will definitely check out your website. The couple you talk about that own a specific patent is David and Dania. They have actually patented a method that I saw on the internet through the US patents website and they have trademarked the "quick-change" name here is the US. My idea is to work in one of my friend, Lusion's shows where he would do his magic/illusions and I would do a segment just on quick change. I know it cost a lot of money - I have already invested quite a bit in it and I really want to make it work. I have seen the quick-change couples you speak of but only in a few pictures. I will definitely have to take a few trips to Europe this year to actually see them perform, as I am fascinated with this and it is a dream of mine to make it work here in the US.

Could someone post more information on where I could get resources for quick change specifically for women? Such as the Yasuda DVD (is that the title of it?) or any others that would be helpful?
Thank you!!

Sylver, There is a soft cover booklet with a DVD by magician Monique Monroe that shows different styles of womens outfits and costumes. She does a genie, a tuxedo, some dresses, etc. The only downside I found to it was that she uses velcro and you can actually hear it in the DVD. The booklet gives you instructions on how to make your own outfits adaptable to her method but so far Yasuda had the best method I could find. The Lee Alex book also shows many methods for men's clothing but I have been applying a few to my own stuff and they can work for women's quick change as well. You just have to be creative with it and it takes a bit of time to perfect. Also, you may want to go to the patents website to see the David and Dania method but that one can't be copied since they have patented it. But it is a good learning source. Hope this info is helpful.
P.S. Check out http://www.sos-entertainment.de and click on the video section. (it has a fabulous demonstration of quick change by Sos and Victoria Petrosyan - in case you haven't seen it yet.

Mike,
go to http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html and where it says patent search just type in 6,308,334 and it should give you the entire patent with drawings and full notes. That's the site I got it from.

The suit that changes colour with only a curtain held up in front?
Arturo Brachetti does it behind a flag since many, many years. I saw him in 1979 at the Fism, in Bruxelles.
You can check his website: http://www.brachetti.com
I think you can click on a short movie as well

I don't know a thing about the waistcoat other than knowing that I really like it. Can anyone tell me if it can be done with only one hand? I'd like to be able to turn around while doing the floating table effect and then have my vest change. Can this be done with this product? Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Smartini,

Yes, you can perform the floating table whilst still having the color change occur. Remember that once you turn back to the front, the table should be floated away to one side to reveal the color change - if the table were still in front of you, the pure siz eof it might shield the effect of the color change, and thus it would be wasted.

If you are performing the floating table on stage, then you could wear your vest without a jacket and the change would be lightning fast.

Lee Alex
