I know it's some sort of black art or backdrop exchange. But I need help, I'm going to build it. Thanks. youtube.com
Practice, Practice, Practice, until you get it perfect, Then practice some more.

Reza is a member here, his username is "MagicReza". I would recommend you talk to him about this, simply because it is his illusion, and I'm sure he doesn't want people copying it. Furthermore, you will probably have to obtain the specific rights to utilize that cloth move, because it adds so much fluidity to the transformation. Always obtain the rights to build anything, if you don't you may face unwanted legal consequences down the line.
You can create a similar effect with techniques and cloth moves in the public domain, and tons of practice. I would just suggest caution when trying to "duplicate" something that someone else has developed. Nick Fox |

I agree with Nick. Why don't you come up with something uniquely yours?
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.

Hey it is a cool effect... But nothing new or exclusive. Copperfield and many other magicians have performed similar effects....

Beautiful effect. I don't know anything about video editing, but it looks like there might be a video "splice" right before the switch and another as he throws the cloth away. I'd like to be able to slow it down and watch it.

Yes, believe there was some editing to make it look faster... But it looks great still...

I was simply advising caution, especially with the cloth movement. As we have discovered in recent years, certain performers don't like their cloth movements being duplicated. So long as a certain degree of creativity is used in the building, design, and performance you will be fine...

I would buy osborne plans, modify them to your liking and use whatever cloth moves you want. I know osborne makes plans for a table much like the one Lance Burton uses to produce 6 girls. Good luck. |

............however Be original for gosh sakes - DO YOUR OWN THING. Is this really that difficult. Take what works. Learn from it. And do something better - original.

Since you stated you believe it uses Black Art, pick up what ever is written and any videos on that topic. You may find your answer in that. Otherwise don't expect the Café members to disclose how it's done.
As said above it's nothing new nor is it an exclusive illusion, simple to make; it just requires the know how to do. Be original, however, that comes with experience and creativity skills. That too is a learned skill. Good Luck and welcome to the world of illusions.

What is the Old Effect Called that People are saying that is used here. you may PM me if you so desire. I will Disclose how it was Done. it was done quite Nicely. I also agree on the splicing it does look like there is a part where it has been spliced I'm not sure why. but its the persons decision to do that and not ours. D,

The quality of the video that someone posted on youtube looks like there is a splice, but I'm fairly certain that was a fan creation and -not- edited by Reza's team (because there is no reason for a splice there) Maybe just poor video quality. The video that I posted above is from his official website, and it's easy to see that there aren't any splices near the switch.

Try to look for bases...
I do remember that I have seen a similar base from one of the illusion manufacturers. I think that the Majestix are using this type of base. I also remember that the price was around $5,000. Eran

I should chime in and mention that I have seen other footage of this illusion and it is performed VERY quickly. Reza is a pretty good guy and he's very strict on getting the rights for what he uses.
He does of course have permission in writing from Jonathan Pendragon for the handling of the cloth.
