Hey everyone, I want to learn snow storm and I've already read a few of the threads about it. I read the version in the Tarbel course in magic. I was wondering how you would compare this version to other versions out there.
Also in the tarbel book it says use some 'tissue paper'. I was wondering what types of paper exactly have you guys used and had luck with and where can I find it. Do you think I shouldn't even bother with the tarbel version and perhaps look for some other version? Just looking for some advice thank you durgy |

Go to Mondo magic and get his snowstorm kit. It is well worth the money. It has some advantages that the Tarbell method does not. The website is http://www.mondomagic.com

I have seen the effect done so many times it seems rather easy to make the loads yourself. Then use your own patter and just fan like crazy.
Just an opion. *Seeker

The loads are not easy to make and the mistake that a lot of performers when first doing Snowstorm think the more and faster you fan the higher the "snow" is propelled. Not true, faster fanning kills the eddy currents that propel the confetti. There is a fanning technique that must be aquired through practice, trial and error. Being a magician, you will see several magicians doing Snowstorm because it folds flat and plays really big. Keep in mind that most lay audiences still have never seen anything like snowstorm. I never get less than a great reaction when I perform Snowstorm in China and sometime standing ovations. As you can tell, I perform snowstorm a lot and will continue to do so because it is a great effect. |

I know for a fact that it is easy to make the loads. I do it myself and I know about fanning.
If your interested in learning how to make them yourself, I suggest you read Jeff McBride's Secret Art Journals...

So I just got in my 'wizzards snowstorm' deluxe kit from mondo magic.
For about 30$ that it cost me with shipping I'm not that impressed. I just checked ebay and mondo is selling the exact same thing for 15$ + 5 shipping... where I paid about 30$ from mondo's site...a little ****ed about that in it self. How is mondo gonna sell their own products for cheaper on ebay?? bah. anyways back to problem at hand. I thought the instructions would go into detail on specifics how to fan, how to 'open' the load in your hand, or perhaps even how to make the load yourself... but nope. The instructions are typed up on a computer and someone has drew a few pictures on there. Not too impressed at all. With that said, can anyone give me advice on how to open the load in your hand so there is as much pieces flying out seperately as possible, mine finished in a matter of seconds. Even help with making the loads would help or where I can find them cheaper then mondo. You can pm me if you have any info you do not want to share on a public forum thanks in advance durgy |

Durgy,
I have made the loads myself and bought them from Mondo. I think the loads that Mondo make are better than the ones I have made and are less time consuming and have more volume that the homemade type. If you are not happy with the loads you bought from Mondo, let him know. I have done a good bit of business with him and he is very reasonable. You can also get Larry Maples snowstorm packs and they are also very good. Denny and Lee Magic is a good source. Again, like in my previous post, save you spent snowstorms and practice your fanning technique. It is a nack that you have to work on to get the spread and the height you need. A good source for loading, routines, and ideas is Jeff McBride's Stage Magic Video, Vol. 2 and Tarbell Vol. 1. There are cheaper snowstorm load made in India but they are terrible. They are too tightly packaged and are very difficult to break open. PM me and I will help you with your technique. David Williams |

Also, what kind of fan did you get in your kit. I bought the large nylon black from Mondo and another red one from Micheal Lair. I use either and they work very well.
