Well guys. I will be hanging up the tophat for a little while. I have gotten orders to ship out to Iraq and will be unable to any of the magic in which I so love. So for all of you who helped me out with any questions I had thank you. To those of you who are new, listen to the veterans as they are among the best. I also want to thank Steve and his staff for creating this site for all magincians to help each other out. And to Dave Scribner, thanks for the help, I only new you for a short time, but you are a mentor to me when it comes to magic.
I have the breath of dragons and the soul of a human.

Best of luck in Iraq, Drag...come home safe!! But, take some of that pocket & close-up magic with you. You'll find a ready & anxious audience in the unit club and may find that it helps to build a connection with the local children and their families. I spent thousands of hours entertaining the children at the local orphanages, schools and hospitals during my combat tours. It helps to make the time pass like crazy and keeps the Homesick Blues at bay. It will also help you and your buds to pass the time during the notorious "Hurry Up and Wait" phases of troop movements. By the time you come home, those lifts and passes should be second nature!
You'll also find the Internet very prominent throughout Iraq...so don't be a stranger. If you or any of the other guys & gals in desert cam need anything while you're there, let us know! Skip USAF/Ret

There have been a number of magicians who took part on boards while overseas.
Man, I wish we had the net when I was in Beirut, we didn't have email or anything like this and it would have been great. Steve V |

I'm with you, Steve. I still remember booking a slot at the MARS station to get a Ham radio link or waiting all week for your 15 minute slot on the Autovon phone line...complete with static, lousy volume and pops. And five of those precious minutes were spent getting connected to a commercial line through a stateside base. Heck, I remember when a mere wait of 3-4 weeks for a personal videotape to make the rounds was great...and the guys who owned the cameras and VCR's made a killing in rentals and were treated like kings!!
My daughter kept in touch almost daily with email, her blog and IM's while she was in Baghdad last year. The guys and gals don't have it all that much easier than we did, Steve...war is still hell...but home is a heck of a lot closer than it used to be. Skip

For those wondering MARS was the only way we had to 'call home' via a network of ham operators. After every statement you had to say 'over' so they new to talk. It was seldom we had access to it at all but it was popular when we did.
