I have put together a whole new show. I am now doing strictly mentalism. I was a manipulator/magician for ten years. Mentalism is a different form of our art. I am very exited about getting started working with the new show. My problem is , how do I decide on which way to market myself and where? The audiences can be very different than those wanting to see a girl float. What is the best way to decide and narrow your focus so you know where you are heading? Where is the best place to start?

The first question is who do you want to perform for?
Okay, I know adults, but more specifically, do you want to perform for corporate functions, banquets, in theatres, as a fundraising choice. Start with one of these areas (I suggest company functions/banquets as you can easily find business/companies to promote yourself to). Then from there you can decide on the best promitional material to send and manner in qualifying leads. (check out all the threads here about promotion) Then once you've succeeded at that market, you can move on to another. |

Ultimately I would like to be working theatre. But I feel I should be breaking in my material in other places before I try filling hundreds of seats. The functions and banquets were one of my main ideas. Just curious though. What is the best way of going about finding out who is in charge of these functions so you know exactly who to get the promo material to so it does not end up in the garbage before it reaches the right person? Thanks

Something in the back of my mind told me that a question of this nature has been asked before.
Here's one thread I found with a quick search: Cafe thread titled... Marketing mentalism Hope that the link helps. - Donald
