I would really like to learn this effect. Can someone point me in the right direction or would anyone be up for swapping effects?

Shigero fujiwara also has a very nice one called rip it revolutionized. It's in richard's almanac, and also in the secret sessions DVD.

Rip-it revolutionized is by Johnny Hirose, and is in Collected almanac. There's another version by Slydini in the almanac as well, but nothing by Fujiwara or Onosaka...

Harry Lorayne has a version called rip-storation as well...

I like the Hirose one best myself...

It's a great bit.. I was lucky and learned it from Chanin himself. His style of working made it.

Yoshio Hirose demonstrates and explains his version on Vol. 1 of Michael Maxwell's Incredible Magic at the Bar Made Easy (A-1 Magic, 6 volume set). It's the third and last bonus effect on the DVD. However, you may still benefit from reading the finer points in Collected Almanac.

I learned the trick shortly after I started this thread, thanks all.

I am working on my own tear effect which will be similar in style to Hollingworths Reparation.

Back when he had his shop in Philadelphia, Chanin had ads on the back cover of "The Linking Ring" for years.
Rip-it was one of his best sellers. Came with a mimeographed instruction sheet back in those days!
If you are a Genii subscriber you have access to all the old issues of Genii, on line.

A full description with illustrations of "Rip-IT" is also in David Haversat's book "The man with the Magic Hands"

Could Channin's Rip-it be in Classic Deceptiond CD-Rom by Jack Channin?

Is it in the book "Chanin, the man with the Magic Hands?
