Strange how most of my post's get deleted as I get accused of being off topic or flaming etc. Well I have just read through this one and I honestly don't know where it is going sooooo, just to get back onto the thread.... The title of the topic is 'Illusion Show Requirements' Well I'll have a stab at answering. I'd suggest a few illusions. Purely from a requirement point of view.

Hmmmm... Interesting. Just got back from out of town and a 30 year reunion for one of the "Great America" Theme Parks in California that I used to perform and produce shows for. It was "fun", but trying to regain 30 years of lost time with a couple hundred people is not easy and though FUN, less than truly fulfilling. I could have spent a few evenings with EACH person… now THAT would be cool! I guess I'll just have to keep in better touch than I have over the last 30. A new start... I can get behind that! (See, I DO actually LEARN stuff as I grow older!) Per the TOPIC, the shows I did back then also, were first rate, production illusion shows as well... the ONLY theme park shows that were covered in detail in books, TV Specials and EVEN the major magic mags... I was proud and honored to be involved. They were GREAT SHOWS! Anyway... Randy, my friend... not to worry, you just had me totally confused as to what you were talking about. Fro that matter, like Donald, I'm STILL confused, but I guess it doesn’t matter really, it just took me by surprise. - That's all. No biggy and I am certainly NOT worried, just trying to UNDERSTAND what you were trying to say. => To the ORIGINAL question... I will STILL say that we don’t have any answers to any questions to be able to offer any solution of value. And it is still true that "ILLUSIONS" may well NOT be the answer or even a consideration at this point. No one knows yet. We are STILL waiting for JAMES to become involved in his own thread and question. He’s probably busy working... (I Hope...) Anyway, since I’m back, LOTS to catch up on, loads of people to respond and reply to. Even a few from HERE... I'll get to ya' as soon as I can! Thanks! I am at your service and In HIS Service, Deano <>< .

Apparently these sort of post's are meant to be P.M.ed. Well mine are anyway. |

Dean and Everyone,
Please excuse me to being gone so long from the thread that I started. And thank you so much for all the imput and suggestions. A few things have led me to think about scaling up to an "illusion show," or at least a show that I could call an illusion show and to ask you guys who know a lot more than I do, about it. 1) A friend of mine was offered a gig at a theme park but it had to be "an illusion show," and he was thinking about what he could buy to get the gig. 2) I had an agent call and offer me a show if I had "three illusions." The pay wasn't through the roof, but it was substantually more than I usually get for my stand up show. 3) Another agent of mine told me about one of her magician clients who does doves and illusions--it sounds like a class show--and that he doesn't leave the house unless it's for $14,000 per show. 4) Denny and Lees show. I have the dvd and I have briefly talked to Denny about it. (I'm kicking myself because I missed him at hte castle last week and he had offered to talk more about it with me, but I was sooo busy I couldn't make it.) To answer Dean's question, I think my idea of what type of illusion show I want (and I also want to say that I suspect--and please correct me if I'm wrong--I suspect that there are many different "types" or "charactesr" of "illusion shows") anyway, I guess my idea was to build the show slowly, increasing production values and illusions and see what I can book. Denny's show appeals to me because it seems very very high on entertainment value, but kind of rough and ready in the production values area. That's kind of where I see myself aiming with the idea of increasing the production value as it goes. I don't think Denny has any lights or curtains or backdrops. The think that is very important to me is the presentation of the effects. I am all about story and character in my imagined show. How does that sound? Thanks. Jim PS: I just started a 33 day, 7 days a week gig.
Oh, my friend we're older but no wiser, for in our hearts the dreams are still the same...
