Moonlight Magic and Movie
The city of Martinez has a very nice outdoor event at their amphitheater at the marina. Enjoy an outdoor magic show and movie at the John Muir Amphitheatre. Seating begins at 7:30 p.m. Magic Show begins at 8pm. Sponsored by California Magic and Dinner Theatre of Martinez featuring Tamaka and the Empress. Movie begins at 8:45 p.m. http://www.cityofmartinez.org/cals/default.asp This is a free event and very fun for the family to get out of the house and enjoy a very good magic show followed by a movie with a "drive in theater" feel to it. According to last months flyer the movie should be Raider of the Lost Ark. A concession stand had soda, water, popcorn, candy and souvenirs for sale for about a $1 per item. They welcome donations. See you there. Dan |

Northern California
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Northern California, sometimes abbreviated NorCal, refers to the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. Definitions of what areas constitute "Northern California" vary considerably. The term may refer to all of California north of the ten counties of Southern California, though some use the term to describe anything from San Luis Obispo County or the Transverse Ranges northward. Additionally, a distinction is sometimes made between Northern California (being north of Santa Cruz County) and Central California (stretching from Santa Cruz County to San Luis Obispo County), though many residents of rural far Northern California define their region as encompassing only those areas to the north of the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento metropolitan area. |

Greetings,
Sam Haine here in San Jose. Normally only perform for charities, but occasionally can be found testing new material at the coffee shops on The Alameda. Also something of a book collector. Couple thousand now. Always glad to hang out with the local magi. Sincerely, Sam H.

I'm actually in Pleasant Hill, myself; I just list San Francisco because it's the closest major urban area. Calamari, I wasn't aware of Calmagic, though I do admit I don't explore my area as much as I should. I'll have to check it out.
Are there any good brick-and-mortar magic shops in the East Bay? Google maps turns up next to nothing, and I'm one of the old school shoppers that prefers face-to-face purchasing (and hates to wait for shipping!)

Well, Cal magic is also a magic store you should deffinatly check it out and look at all the great performers that have been there for the dinner theater shows. Gerry is great and very helpful, I cant believe you never heard of it. well I guess that's why this thread exists, to help each other find out whats happening magic wise in our area.

Hello all,
I'm checking in from Oakland. I'm not a professional magician, and I'm not really much of a joiner, but I do enjoy doing card tricks from time to time, and sometimes it's nice to watch someone else do card tricks, too. And sometimes it's even fun to sit down with someone with a similar perspective on card tricks and talk about how fun they are to watch and to do. I hope all of you are healthy and happy today, Jarred |

Hey Marcus, welcome to the thread, Dana Daniels was hysterical (sp) the show was fantastic, I have not laughed that hard in a long time. I guess he won comedy magician of the year & Parlor MOTY at the Castle for a reason. not to mention what a nice guy he is just hangin out after the show and talking magic, to me that is the best part of Cal Magic Dinner Theater not only do you get to see the best performers from around the world, you also get to just hang out with them for a bit, way too cool.
I am sorry I got there so late and you and KT left so early, I would love to see your table hopping stuff, are you there again anytime soon? My wife wants to talk to you a bit about hair and make up for your other profession... she has questions Rich

Oh also, welcome Jarred, well there are tons of great card guys here in the Bay Area, many on this thread, Joel Pascal (one of the best card guys I know) is the resident magician at Cal Magic and Gery is no slouch either.

Ok, add another South Bayer to the list. I'm John, prefer close-up work, primarily sleight of hand but also dabble in other areas.
Gather every Friday in Sunnyvale, it's the South Bay magician hangout, always a good time. Put on a show once a month, includes both close-up and parlour shows, 2 or 3 shows total, 1 parlour, 1 or 2 close-up. Great chance to test material. Don't hang out much here at the Café, but drop in occasionally. john |

I've seen Dana Daniels perform at the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland many, many times years ago and he always got us roll'n on the floor.
Last weekend was the second time we have seen him at California Magic and I never laughed so hard. I was actually worn out at the end of the evening watching all the table hoppers, Gerry Griffin, Joel Pascal, Tim James and of course Dana Daniels. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my 40th birthday. Dan |

Welcome John, I would like to know more about these shows you spoke of, where? when? who? etc... this sounds very cool maybe I can check it out sometime. I also have friends in the southbay that would be interested.
Dan, first of all it was nice to see you and your wife & daughter last Saturday what a great time, Dana had me rolling, a great way to spend your birthday indeed. Rich
