Personally I didn't like the ring thing and first because I had never seen Garret perform it, it seems like no one can perform it as good as he can, no offense to greg wilson fans.

How long do you think Garett's been doing it? Quite a while is my guess. I imagine if any one of us put in that much time doing one effect, we would get pretty good at it!

Do any of you know where to get nice cheap rings to use with this effect? I've been looking around at some of the local jewelry shops, but the rings are all either too expensive (>$50) or they just don't look nice IMHO.

Although they are a little more expensive than what you had in mind, check out this online store. Why settle for crap? Just my opinion.

If you're in the US, go to Spencer's Gifts. That what I did when I was looking for a personal, inexpensive ring. Also, remember you can do this with a borrowed ring. I generally do.

I was lucky, my Subterfuge Ring was already a perfect fit for most of the effects. I agree that it takes a lot of practice, but I found that if you just nibble away at it, absently practicing in front of the tv in addition to our standard bathroom shut-ins, it's just a matter of time and persistence.

That's the spirit!i read a few of you say no one can do it as well as garret, but if you think about it it took 100 years for someone to do metamorphosis better than Houdini.

I don't claim to perform the effect as well as Garrett but I do this all the time and I have never had someone not ask me to do it again. It is a wonderful effect which I believe looks just as good in person as on camera. It took some playing with it to perfect it but put in the time and the angle work and you'll have a winner on your hands.

I like the effect and have done it for people a few times. Got very good reactions. Still I don't like it that much due to the angular nature of many of the effects. If you look closely you'll see Garrette even flashed on one or two of the effects.

You guys really tick me off. This move is brilliant, and a little time in front of a mirror checking finger and hand positioning -- then getting a natural rhythm to the fake removal -- and it's an incredible illusion.
It's perfect for a karate-coin like effect, and a great opener for a ring routine. Hey guess what, wimps...you gotta practice. fib |

This dvd is too cheap in my opinion. all dvds of this quality are. I think having a general set price of 30 bucks for a dvd is silly, not saying I WANT to pay more, but I will pay more if the material is this good. I have NEVER been caught, especially if you use the sublties that garrett teaches you like jolting and tensing and what not.
AMAZING dvd, amazing performer, tons of ideas, enough said Ryan
Any Effect Is Possible, methods are relativley easy to come by, but it is the effect that takes true courage to come up with

I really want to be able to do this, but I can't
It seems my fingers look nothing alike (a few are more crooked than the others) and it really sucks. I have to say, I have seen Ring Thing in action and it is such a great effect. Most people should be able to do it, but if you're cursed like me, you may not be able to. |
