Hi all,
I really like Tim's product and use it a lot but have one small criticsim and that is the cueing device is a little noisy. It is usually not a problem in my performances as background noise will easily cover this. For less noisy enviroments, it is an issue so I have wrapped it up in wads of thick 'gaffer tape' but it is still noisy in a silent performing environment. Anyone else have this problem and have any ideas? Cheers, Al

Yes the vibrating receiver can be a bit loud. I usually go into another room or go behind a wall while they choose a color, it depends where I am performing. This also makes it look even more impossible when I guess their color since I wasn't even in the same room.

If you place the receiver in your sock it should make almost no noise at all.

I am a complete newbie and been lurking in the shadows on the forum, I received my unit and let me tell you, I have built up a reputation in my circles. Tim this is an awesome device. I did place the receiver in my sock and it worked great.
I do have one question, what type of paint did you use on the cube? I need to touch up the edges after replacing the battery. BTW, does the color cube work on the same principle? When will your new projects be available? Thanks, The CiscoKid |

The paint is a common paint that you can buy at any Walmart or Michaels. It is Delta Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint (Black).
The color cube works exactly like the die cube, if you owned a color cube you could use your die cube's vibration receiver with the color cube. Currently I am building some more spirit telegraphs, there are several people that what to get their hands on one before October. Tim |

I think hand painting each color would really add to the authenticity of the effect.

Once again I will sing Tim's praises. This is a fantastic effect.
I performed a routine with this apparatus at a "bar and grill" performance on Friday. It always kills. I perform three progressive phases then I place any number face up and have a spectator name the number and they are correct (not included). Everyone kept talking about this the rest of the night. It is worth every penny (I own three versions)!!! Thanks Tim! Sean |

I own both the Color Cube and my new favorite, Remote Vision Die. These are some of the best buys in electronic magic. I agree...I don't know how he does it so inexpensively. Beautiful stuff, Tim.

Once again, I am posting about the "cube"! A week ago Friday I was asked to come and perform at a local "Tavern" at a historic hotel. I performed several pieces including the die.
I use a three phase routine of my own. As I joined a small group, the attendees began to dicuss this again. I asked a person at the table to just close their eyes and visualize whatever number they liked, while their eyes where closed I placed a number up in the box. They open their eyes and name a number and it was correct. The table was stunned! So a skeptical (but friendly) engineer mentioned that I must have set that up. I offered to give him a try. I showed everyone the number and he closed his eyes and visualized any number he liked. He opened his eyes and named the number. The entire room was silent! He said "I have never seen anything like this". "With cards and other magic, you know it's just tricks". He said, "I have no place to put this experience". He continued saying, "I am an engineer, I need things to be black and white. I am going to be up all night"! Powerful stuff! Thanks again, Tim Sean |

I don't know about the Jam Magic die, but Tim's is absolutely outstanding. I have the large version which fools everyone (even repeatedly). I have the receiver in the card box which gets a little soggy in the summer heat (so I sweat a little . . .). I have ordered one of those card protectors (like pocket protectors but for magician nerds?) and hope this will keep my next card box container crisp. That's my only complaint and it's not about the product but about the outer container.
I rarely believe tricks are fairly priced; this may be the first. The only other tricks I have purchased which were such a good value for the money would include the Invisible Deck, and a few other classics like the linking rings. I also rarely give a trick 10/10 but this one gets it on the innocent look of the die box, the routine potential it presents (you've got to be creative, but there are plenty of ideas from posters on the Café), and its ability to startle anyone (I teach kids the vision cube and give mini version away, but end with the die to show that there is still magic out there even if they learn one way of doing a trick . . .). Also, buying direct from Tim, he e-mailed when mine arrived without batteries installed correctly so I could fix, and offered to exchange free of charge for Vision Cube version (which I decided not to after adapting a patter about my deceased uncle the gambler and learning from suggestions from informative posters like Mr. Mendez about combining this with loaded dice which can be used to "reaffirm" their predictions after doing it a couple of times with pure mentalism. Congrats to the creator of this item; I look forward to watching for more of your stuff. |

Well guys,
I learned something interesting. I have performed with the Die and it is a killer device, but a warning, make sure that there are no audio device, like speakers around. I was performing for a small group in an office environment and they placed the die in the box with the cover on next to a computer speaker and the speaker emitted a distorted sound, everyone started talking about the sound, oddly enough it only made the sound when the die was in 2 positions,so I was able to deflect their curiosities. I think this is the best piece of magical apparatus I own, bar none. It fools them every time and I've repeated it a half dozen times (usually miscalling once), to stump 'em for 20-30 min . . . Tim offers great service and an amazing item.

One day soon (perhaps within a couple of years the way things are going?) my hope is that advances in micro electronics will enable the die to be sized down so that they are roughly the size of a normal playing die. I know that some of you will want the dice to be large and visible for performance purposes but for me size does matter!
I have however had a look at both Tim's website and Jam magic's web site. Both products seem to be of great quality. The effect really is as strong as you can get. With attention paid to your patter one could present the effect as being an example of direct thought reading. I can't say that the products are too expensive because they simply aren't. Wonderful stuff. With best wishes Andy. |

I've been doing a bit where I stand quite a distance from the spectator while holding a length of yarn or string. They select the die number, replace lid and hold the other end of the yarn, which (naturally) is to focus our mental connection, yada yada yada...you know the drill.
Not only does this help with any minor sound issues with the added distance but the addition of the yarn-prop drives them nuts. Somehow the heat is now on the yarn! Best theory I heard was: I was able to divine unconscious pulses or "jerks" on the string from the spec numbering their die choice! Priceless. Sometimes I'll "miss", have them hold the string with both hands (or whatever) and then "hit". Now they tear the yarn apart looking for clues. I've also aged my RVD further so it looks like something my great grandfather used (which is exactly what I tell them as part of the routine.) I'm not crazy about the usual high lacquered look of most magic apparatus and that makes Tim's designs ideal and further enhances the apparent innocence of the unit! Love this thing. |
