Hi all,
recently found this forum, looks buzzing with lively enthusiasts and professionals alike. Quick background: I'm 24 yr old web developer looking to break away from my employment and emmigrate to Mauritius while keeping and gaining British clients. (Any contacts in mauritius btw?) From a web POV I'm currently targetting entertainers who need a website so at a risk of being booted off this forum, check sipa.co.uk. Prices will vary for smaller individuals and businesses. I have been interested in all things magical since a very early age when my Grandad introduced me to a couple of card and coin tricks, and bought my very first Svengali deck at age 9. I've never been 100% serious in the area but keep a few effects handy and going every so often if the situation is right. I've picked up again more recently as a simple appearing wand effect sparked something quite amazing with my baby sister aged 10 and seems it's something in the blood. She's been amazing her friends with the wand and the flying effect (made famous by David Blane but can't remember the originator) ever since. My favourite effects include the classic AC and variations. I love card tricks especially because cards are easy to get hold of and most households have some somewhere. I don't like gaffed decks though admit that some effects can be really great including the invisible deck. (I like the fact this can easily be home made with normal household objects (look it up before you spend money on it) I don't mind stacked decks though prefer to avoid, but as long as the deck is clean once the effect is finished, my signature is getting frustrated with the deck doing it's own thing and giving it away to a bewildered audience at the end. (also useful if you can slot a business card somewhere in there.) I'm looking into more money magic, particularly coins as it's another prop readily available. I have the cigarette through coin dusted but it's a little overdone IMHO. Gaffed coins are easier to switch but more expensive to buy so avoiding that if possible... any ideas? Anyway, waffling on here, fantastic site with fantastic people, could be here for sometime methinks. Simon |
