Without having to bother Mr. Steinmeyer or Mr. Gaughan with stupid, simple questions such as mine, does anyone know how much a pole levitation will cost me?
Take care and thanks. Bryan |

Alot.
Keep in mind, Bryan, that Jim is an idea man - he doesn't actually build anything. Mr. Gaughan is arguably the best/one of the best prop builders on the planet. I'm guessing around $10k. |

I am aware that Mr. Steinmeyer does not build, but I'm guessing he knows what Mr. Gaughan builds his illusion for and Im sure its quite a bit.............anyone with more than a guess?
Thanks, Bryan |

Tilford had a low cost (read knock off) version listed at one time for about $6,500. I once saw one used in the $9,000 range.

It also depends on how much you weigh. Price will jumpup if you are say over 185lbs.

I inquired about four years ago, and if I remember correctly, there were additional charges for performance rights and a fee that goes to Jim Steinmeyer. The total cost was around $11,000 at that time.

You may want to inquire with Chezaday on this forum, as he performs the effect in his show.

I saw Jeff mc Bride use this effect,a nd he personally tell me he bought form Gaughan. Very thin and deceptive.

Remember one thing- there are great stresses put on this equipment. Life and limb depend on it working smoothly and reliably. This is NOT a good effect to go lowball on! Use a reliable builder with a proven track record and experience on this effect. Save money elsewhere.

That's why John Gaughan is the only authorised builder of this illusion !

As I am aware... I also know that sometimes people don't respect production rights. In this case there is a safety factor that makes it imperative that an illusionist not hook up with somebody who thinks they can do it "as well for less."
John's job is to build things- call him for a quote.

Dear members,
I talked about it with John last week. Right now it is about $15.000 plus performance rights for Jim Steinmeyer. Regards, D |

*** ! 10K-15K O____O ? Unbelieveable .... its not even that much of a powerful illusion in my eyes, I wouldn't waste more than 3 grands on this let alone 15+ .... I wonder how are so many magicians able to perform it when its that expensive. Didn't think it would surpass the 10K of the water levitation....

MagicalMan,
The reason so many illusionist invest (you call it waste) so much money in an illusion is, that they don't look through YOUR eyes, but look through the eyes of their audience. They are the REAL magicians! |

Although a JG build of the pole lev is worth a great deal more than 3k to me as well. But 15k+? Eh...not so much.

Do you have to get a POLE levitation, or are you just looking for a levitation? If it is the latter, you can save a lot of money...
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I didn't bash anyone for using it I just think its ridicilous and TOO MUCH for this illusion. And investing all this money in an illusion donsn't make you a "REAL MAGICIAN" btw (depends on how you define it).... |
