You get four volunteers from the audience onstage. Borrow $100 from one of them and have each one of them sign it. At stage left a platform is wheeled out for you to stand on. While on stage right a safe is brought out and examined. And right down the middle of the stage, a tape is erected... DO NOT CROSS. You stand on the platform, never to cross the line through the entire illusion. The four people take the bill and lock it in the safe. (remember, they see their signatures on the bill as they lock it in the safe!) They sit on the safe to prevent access from any direction. You lift up a cloth and vanish. A few seconds later, the cloth raises up and you appear. But you have the $100 bill!! The safe is opened and it is empty!

Sounds like a great effect and it does a nice job of combining escape (sort of) with an illusion. I'd say, have yourself appear in the safe, holding the dollar bill though. With them sitting on it, that would blow everyone away.

Sounds nice. The problem in my audiences would be finding $100 in total among the whole crew in any demnomination, and they surely won't give the money up either.
The effect does sound nice, and I agree with the previous comment, if the safe was big enough to sit in, that would be quite a picture with you in it! BroDavid

I agree that appearing in the safe is a stronger effect.

Yeah I think so as well. But make sure you have an assistant or someone to make sure the safe gets opened! You'd hate to have the volunteers struggle with the safe whilst you struggle to breath!

Having the bill reappear with you is a nice touch. Having you reappear with the bill in the safe is a greater illusion.

I surely would love to perform this illusion. :o)
I like the original idea and the additional bit. How about other objects are put in the magician's pocket before his vanish and later the jacket and objects in the jacket pocket are in the safe and the magician reappears with the bill without any coat. Adipoetra |

Man, whether you end up in the safe or out of the safe with the signed dollar, it sounds pretty awesome. I'd definitely do it. It's better than any magic I've ever done in my whole life . . . stick with it . ..

Have them appear in the safe and keep the 100 dollars!
Seriously, I like Jeb Sherrill's idea for you to appear in the safe. But then have the signed 100 dollar bill appear in a box across the stage. Then open the safe from inside, have the box magically open, and the bill float out to your waiting hands. OK, I did get a little carried away on that last part!
Humans make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to create boredom. Quite astonishing.

If you're going to get into the safe, make sure you can get out of it without assistance. There's nothing wrong with a locked safe that can be opened from the inside without keys / combination!

Chad,
I would have to say that appearing in the safe is a great idea. By just reappearing from where you vanished with the bill doen't seem big enough. Another way would be to pull up four people have them all sign it and then send three of them back to their seats. Have the last person sit on the safe and then you reappear where that person was sitting with the bill in hand. Just a thought.

I like it . How about starting with a $1. bill, have it signed. When you reapear with it, all signatures are there but it is now a $100.00 bill. It could happen, well maybe not.
