The "You have a private message" box continues to flash even though I have no private messages. I am on a Mac G3 OS 9 Netscape 4.2.1

I'd have to guess that it's not working right because of your browser. Netscape 4.2.1 is a very old version, and doesn't support some of the coding in use here. Unfortunately, I can't test my theory, because Netscape 4.2.1 is no longer available for download from the site - the oldest version I have is 4.72, and the scripts work just fine in that version, as well as all the later versions.

If you want the best compatability browsers wise, download the newest versions of netscape and Internet explorer.
Both are free for download.
