I watched Mark Mason demo this at FISM many times. It blew me away. The secret is so simple and yet so clean. Very clever.

This is just as good as it says, I use this for cabaret and even close-up very easy to perform and looks really good.
There is one thing better than magic and roller coasters. That is doing magic on roller coasters!

I would advise to go for Al Koran's Legacy by Hugh Miller.
it discribes in that. |

I really like this effect too.
I personally with my back turned, ask the person to note down their word..... to close the book and fold the paper up. When I turn around I do a bit of patter about photographic memories and how with some training they can remember entire books etc. I then summarise saying "So....you took the book......opened at ANY page..... chose ANY word.....wrote this word down, along with the page number and the line number..." Of course at this point your spectator will get all flustered thinking "Oh my god, he didn't ask me to write the page number down !!" You can even ask whether "these pages look familiar"? ?! "Did you put a crease in the page at all "? etc etc...... Make a bit of comedy out of it and then look a bit worried in that you will now have to just do it with REAL mind reading gulp !!! . |

Although Word in a Million is BASED on Al Koran's effect A Word in Thousands it is updated and has many benifits and advantages to the original. Full credit is given to Al Koran but please understand it is not the same as that which also appeared in the Tarbell course. Nick |

I bought this gem by Mark Mason in the JB Magic booth during FISM.
He showed it to me severeal times, and it blowed me completly away. The method is so good, yet so clean. My only concern right now is what book to use. Im seriously thinking about a magic book, perhaps Dai Vernon's book of Magic, the Supreme Magic edition. Any thoughts?

Wow, I am very interested in this one.
For 19.99 with a DVD, it sounds very reasonable. I have a question, can the word be revealed without having the spectator write down the word? I do a lot of booktests without having people right down any words. So I was wondering if this is required? Otherwise, it sounds like a winner! |

I too have a question about this book test. I read from the description that it comes with a special gimmick that fits into any hardcover book. Can this gimmick be added on and off easily so that the book can be examined before or after the effect if the spectator chooses to?

Yes Nick, I know the bit of diffrence but if I told that, it would tip the method. My advise was for the book in genral. this trick was just a bonus. Best. |

The book is handed to a spectator..They page through it to get their word.
They write the word on a piece of paper and keep the paper. You pick up the book with pages towards the spectator riffling the pages saying they could have picked any word and turned to any page.. You can even hand the book back to them. You KNOW their word. It's as simple as that. For the price, this is good !!!!! DP

After doing a search, I was able to find an answer to my question. I thought that maybe this was a brand new effect, so I didn't even bother on doing a search first.

This effect is one of the coolest book test that I have. I love the fact that it's soo practical and you can use ANY BOOK! That's right, I said any book it can not get any better than this. I've been preforming this for a while and it never seems to bore me at all, just to preform this and see the reactions of people it PRICELESS. So go to your local magic shop or order this online because this is a must have for all those into book tests and mentalism.
