I always thought you would need "worn" coins for this type of routine(I use poker chips, which are smooth).
Does it work ok with quarters? It just seems funky... |

I've been doing the routine as written with quarters for over twenty years (nice one guy... make me feel OLD) with no problems or need for soft coins.
The Half Crowns mentioned earlier are so when I carry "special" coins I can practice some of the Ramsay sequences.
